Digital Image Correlation (DIC) system. DIC is a full-fi eld optical technique for the measurement of strain and 3D deformation widely used in university research.

Aerospace companies from as far afi eld as Newcastle, Sheffi eld and Leicestershire are signing up to receive support from the North West Aerospace Alliance (NWAA), including Metal Spinners Group Ltd of Newcastle upon Tyne and Douglas, Isle of Man manufacturers Solidstrip Plastic Abrasives.

Martin Wright, chief executive of the NWAA, said the news showed the scale of support the NWAA is receiving from within the industry, with companies keen to take advantage of the various programmes being run by the group such as the Aerospace Supply Chain Excellence (ASCE) programme.

AIC brings AMCS to Composites Engineering 2011AIC will be displaying their Autoclave Management and Control System, ‘AMCS’ at Composites Engineering 2011. The system, developed in conjunction with Honeywell, delivers a proven hardware platform with easily programmed software that has been designed by in-house engineers totally familiar with autoclave processes; this combined with input from machine operators delivers a winning solution. AMCS is designed to be installed to any autoclave or oven application where quality control is essential and importantly can give signifi cant energy savings with its ‘active power management’ feature.

Vulcan Spring and Manufacturing Co., announces the availability of new Spiral Torsion Springs and Wire Forms for industrial, brush motor, and retail display markets and applications. Spiral Torsion Springs are springs produced from fl at steel, and are characterized by the requirement that their coils do not touch during operation and can be found in brush motors and in certain applications where a short rotation is required. Vulcan has also produced power springs, twin springs and constant torque springs, all made from the same high quality fl at steel.
