Albury WodongaTwin cities, nestled either side of the Murray River, Albury and Wodonga provide an ideal meeting place or stopover between Melbourne and Sydney.
Interspersed with modern architecture, the streetscapes of Albury showcase a stunning array of art deco buildings. This twin city is home to a thriving cultural scene and bustling shopping hub, though it also offers natural delights such as the Botanic Gardens and the Murray River Parklands if you want to get away from it all.
Just over the Murray, Wodonga echoes the character of its twin with everything within a stone’s throw including great shopping, restaurants, hotels, cafés, parks and bike paths.
The population of these twin cities is estimated at around 92,000 people. Albury Wodonga also services the wider regional population of 176,000 people and thus offers all the sought-after conveniences of a metropolitan centre in a contemporary, yet relaxed way.
Albury and Wodonga are separated by an expanse of waterways including the Murray and Kiewa Rivers, Wodonga Creek, various lagoons and floodplains. These waterways and the nearby Lake Hume create a perfect backyard for exploration and adventure.
Take your time to unearth locally-grown produce, a thriving arts and cultural scene, sprawling parks and gardens, a cosmopolitan shopping haven and charming historic buildings. There’s plenty to explore, experience and enjoy here.
For more information on Albury Wodonga, go to visitalburywodonga.com, or call the Albury Visitor Information Centre on 1300 252 879 and Wodonga Visitor Information Centre on 1300 796 222.

PERFORMANCE ARTThe Albury Entertainment Centre hosts local, metropolitan and international productions, which include theatre, music, dance and comedy. The Cube Wodonga located in Wodonga’s CBD also offers a diverse program of music, performance and film.
ART GALLERYArts Space Wodonga houses a permanent collection of historic and cultural significance. This is complemented by an ongoing program of major touring exhibitions. Arts Space Wodonga is located in a state-of-the-art gallery adjacent to the Wodonga Library.
MUSEUMSAlbury’s Library Museum is located in a strikingly modern building. Its distinctive western wall, designed with inspiration from the original rail bridge crossing the Murray River, makes a bold statement. Inside, there is a changing program of touring exhibitions from Australia’s State Galleries and Museums, as well as a permanent exhibition which translates the history of Albury and the surrounding region. The Bonegilla Migrant Experience, which is located at 82 Bonegilla Road, Bonegilla (12 kms from Wodonga), tells the story of the migrants who left Europe after World War II and were initially housed here. The migrants brought with them a rich diversity of culture and cuisine. The Army Museum Bandiana is a must-see for its war relics and is located on Murray Valley Highway, Bandiana. For more information regarding what’s on, call the Albury Visitor Information Centre on 1300 252 879 or Wodonga Visitor Information Centre on 1300 796 222.
