National Council Mission
The National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery exists to promote and
develop the professional role of nurses and midwives in order to ensure the
delivery of quality nursing and midwifery care to patients and clients
in a changing healthcare environment.
National Council Strategic Plan Provision of continuous professional development,
education and research opportunities for nurses and midwives
Working in partnership with other agencies on research projects and practice development projects that are relevant to service and professional development needs
Developing and maintaining meaningful databases on research and practice development activities being carried out in nursing and midwifery in Ireland as a key resource for the profession
