Requirements Achieved

Build Structure to Regulation Building Health and Safety Standards.

Construct Structure under Tutorship of the Facilitator, in conjunction with Level Two Carpentry Unit Standards.

Landscaping area in accordance to site aspects and climatic conditions.

Raised gardens well constructed/ suitable soils used.

Planting Program shows knowledge of plant species and habitat.

JudgmentThe above criteria are what I base success on because they are the focal point of integrating

all aspects of school and community life.

Success Criteria

•The buildings very structure enables it to be safe and Sustainable.

•I see any possible weaknesses are not the building but the recycling management practices.

•Strategies would to be part of the School Philosophy to ensure the Recycling Station stays sustainable.

The Recycling Station has been built with the economical aspect of sustainability very much in mind. The environmental and social aspects are also very much part of what the operation is about. When these sustainability aspects are dealt with correctly all concerns are addressed.

•I recommend that re-evaluation of the Building Structure be done in a year’s time.

• I see possibility for extension of the building so that we have

•A depot that could easily deal with increased recyclable materials such as an undercover metal collection

•A re- sort and a large scale paper making operation

•Aluminum collection site for scrap metal.

All are possible student driven enterprises.

Personal Response

Building our Recycling Station has consumed me. Getting it operational has been a personal challenge.

The support from our facilitator Mr. Coram has been invaluable and has guided me to complete the structure and interior furnishings.

This Accomplishment is one I’m very proud of. The values about Sustainability I now have I hope to use to encourage other younger students at Mangakahia Area School to realize so they can continue our view of a sustainable at this school.

The whole process has been a life experience done in a fun and challenging manner.

I have learnt many skills including formal plan drawing, correct construction techniques, working in a team, communicative and collaborative skills.

I also learnt how to realize leadership potential and enjoy the opportunities that went with the leadership responsibilities.

In conclusion I would like to thank everyone that helped with the All Weather Recycling Station
