Call For Nominations For Regional Director And Regional vice-president Both Barb Rupers and Gene Cameron are in the last year of their respective terms, so we are asking you to submit your suggestions for replacements and nominations to: Mrs. Dian Keesee 1000 Angel Heights Ave. Fortuna, CA. 95540-1551

Hawaii Calls Oregon ! One of my 1950 high school classmates has some property on the Big Island, attempting to raise coffee in the higher elevations. He apparently wants to try his hand at daffodils, both for his personal enjoyment, and possibly for commercial uses as cut flowers. If you'd like to e-mail him, his name is Jim Browne, <jim20773 @aol.com>

Dian Hrabik, of Amity, Oregon, has the distinction of having every daffodil from A to Z ! She has made her first crosses this season, and is very excited about the prospects of being a foster parent ! Those of us that have been down that path will be glad to share the coming five-year wait !

The daffonil world is saddened with the loss of two wonderful Oregon daffodil lovers. Lucille Sprenger of

Shedd, and Madeline Kirby, of Corbett, both were shining lights of the ODS for many years. They were classy ladies, both with infectious smiles for all , especially when sharing 'Yellow Fever', they will be missed.

E-Mails Needed !!!! If you have e-mail, please send me your address, we are now able to transmit more up-to-date information via the internet. Example: I sent out e-mail notices to all the people with addresses(e-mail) about the upcoming Ashland Regional Meeting on September 29-30, and within one week, there were 16 play seats spoken for and the checks in my hands !

Oregon Daffodil Society Meeting Len and Betty Jean Forster have asked me to let all you ODS members know that there will be a meeting at The Oregon Garden, in Silverton, Oregon, on October 14th, at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements have been made for all members to have a free tour of the Gardens, but we suggest everybody bring a sack lunch to enjoy at the meeting.

Portland World Daffodil Convention In closing, I wish to thank everyone involved with the recent convention, there were too many people involved to list here, but after two years of hard work, large telephone bills, extra postage stamps, new ink cartridges, shopping for boutique items, special meetings, short fuses, hotel inspections, governmental red-tape, airline connection problems, newbie-buddy pairings, house guests from overseas, no flowers to show, you name it, it happened ! Bottom line, the convention was a huge personal-relations success ! Again, I say to each of you, Bill, Leonard( with 'Best of Show ,"Dynasty"!), Betty Jean, Lee, Nancy, Margaret, Kirby Bob, Jeanie_ Frank, Elise, Ruth, Darlene. John, Lesley_ Steve Phyllis, Rod. Naomi_ Dona, Donna, Stan, Jerry, Jan, Karen, Peggy, Barb, Doris, Harold, Scott, Eileen, Delia, Peg, Howard and Lee, Doug, Ruby, Lynn, and a really big "Thanks" to David and Leone Smith for their single-handed assembling of the Registration Process! Talk about doing a job from remote centers, they weren't even in Oregon when they did their work. Also, none of us can forget the contribution Kit and Bill Pannill made to all who were on the cruise ship, `Cheers' ! I ask you to check the September Journal for the season's show winners, Bill Lee does the best job of providing us with results ! Have a great Summer and Fall-- Gene
