CHANGES DUE TO COVID-19
UPCOMING MAINTENANCE
FIRE SPRINKLER INSPECTIONS
Due to Covid-19, inspections of all interior units has been CANCELLED until further notice.
Wayne’s Automatic Sprinkler Inc. will be on property to inspect all other aspects of the fire
system the week of August 3 to 7 as scheduled.
During working hours of the inspection week if you hear the fire alarms sounding, know that it
may just be a test and there is no need to be alarmed.
For sprinklers heads to work properly they should NEVER be painted and mini horns never discon-nected. Being aware of all fire safety equipment
should all be our priorities.
EMERGENCY/EXIT LIGHTS AND UNIT FIXTURES
The replacement of emergency lights, exit lights and fixtures outside of your entrance
door will continue in the month of August. So if you see the lights on, you will know that
maintenance is being performed, and there is no need to report it to the office.
Report lights out or broken fixtures to Sylvie,
she will have the association’s handyman, Pete, replace them.
BUILDING CLEANING Refer to the calendar as to when your building is scheduled to be cleaned. Please clean up the SPILLS that you create.
SAFETY & MAINTENANCE ISSUES
Please report all issues to Sylvie or Sentry and never assume someone else has already made the call. It is better to receive several
calls on the matter than none at all.
YOUR HELP IS NEEDED by disposing of your trash and recyclables properly. Recyclables items are clearly listed on the bin lid. NO trash or plastic bags and everything else MUST go in the dumpster. Please do your part in keeping our property clean.
CANCELLED ACTIVITIES The activities committee met and have all agreed that the following activities and events will be cancelled for the
months of October, November & De-cember:
Sunday Brunches Happy Hours
Thanksgiving Dinner Holiday Happenings
Christmas Dinner
The Gatlin’s are still tentatively booked
More updates to follow on all upcoming activities.
LIBRARY BOOKS If you return books to the clubhouse library, please disinfect the cover if pos-sible and then place them in the box labelled “return books here”. They will then be moved to a differ-ent location for 14 days before we allow anyone to borrow them.
• To give your guest gate access remember to start with “Phone Call” NOT “Entry Code”.
• Water leaks should be reported to Sentry or Sylvie immediately so that the source can be determined and stopped.
• If you are above the first floor, please consider that noise carries to residents below. Quiet hours are from 10pm to 8am. Placing floor protectors on legs of furniture will also help.
• We suspect that the Caribbean Crazy ants were disturbed during removal of the Australian Pines so if they enter your unit be sure to call First Call Pets Control to treat and let Sylvie know to have them return for the exterior.
• For your safety, if you hear thunder, you should evacuate from the pool or spa immedi-ately. Hours are from dawn to dusk.
• All guests must register with the office before using the facilities.
• All wildlife should never be fed, harassed or killed.
• All leases need to be submitted to Sentry 30 days prior to lease start date.
NOTE: If you are unsure of the rules & regulations of the community, you may obtain a paper copy from the office or a pdf from the website.

Joyce’s Journal
As August is beginning we are still under the guidelines issued by local au-thorities and the Governor, yet we at Heritage Pointe continue to work and complete projects. Since Hurricane Irma destroyed the area behind our property on the east side, Chuck Kern has been very diligent in working with Lee County to have the down trees removed. Last week we finally saw the project completed. With-out his many phone calls to the County to keep this on their agenda for remov-al we would still be looking at the resulting Irma damage in that area. Thanks, Chuck for getting this big project completed at no cost to Heritage Pointe.
(See photos at the bottom of page) Steve will be meeting with our landscaping company to develop a design for plantings along our property behind buildings 4, 5 and 6. The plans will be discussed at the Budget Workshop for funding for next year. The walking path is now complete and work will begin on repairing the top rails on the seawall. The lake management company is to begin installing new plants into the lake which will help improve the quality and clarity of the lake. Steve is reporting in his column about the plantings being installed throughout the community. Now we need more rain to help them get established. In the clubhouse, the electrical work in the card room has been completed along with the installation of motion activated lights in the hallways. The new cameras and their operating programs are all installed. Sylvie now has 15 cameras that she can observe on her TV monitor. We also updated the cornices in the main room, pool room and office, removing the plaid ones and replacing with wood ones painted grey. Building lights, exit and emergency lights are currently being replaced, as needed, with the costs of the lights charged to each building’s maintenance budget. Board Members, Sylvie and our CAM, Jason are gathering information in preparation for the Budget Workshop. This information will be used to determine what projects we will fund for 2021. As the COVID-19 virus continues to spread across the U.S. and the guidelines from Governor DeSantis have not changed since his first quarantine report, I will no longer send out a weekly news update unless new information released. In the mean time please continue to follow the guidelines that we have been sending out weekly and please wear a mask. Stay safe. Joyce Jager, Association President
HURRICANE SEASON The most active hurricane
months are here so we should all be ready. You may obtain a “Hurricane Guide” from the club-house or view it on the
following websites
www.nhc.noaa.gov or www.LeeEOC.com
We like to keep a log of all our residents that are
here during hurricane sea-son months so it is sug-gested you let the office
know of your visit.

COMCAST (Xfinity) Although the association has a bulk agreement to provide internet /cable, every unit has their own
account # & is responsible for all the equipment pro-vided. When problems arises you MUST call
them directly as the more calls they receive the
more they are likely to resolve the issues. You may also want to send Sylvie an email. As the
community ages so are the connections & filters that provide the cable tv and
internet, you may want to assure all of them are tight
or changed out.

LANDSCAPE & IRRIGATION Hi everyone. Welcome to the August landscaping newsletter. Until the last few days the weather has been very hot and ex-tremely dry even by Florida standards. HP went 35 days with just a trace of rain. After the renovation of the marquee and entrance, I had to suspend all additional plantings due to lack of rainfall. Rainfall has returned this last week, but we are still 9” behind for the month of July. Everyday has started the plantings again this week. (see pictures below) Hopefully all scheduled plantings will be completed by the September newsletter.
Everyday is also trimming Queen palm fronds and removing coconuts from the palms around the clubhouse area. The Sable palms will be trimmed closer to season. We are still experiencing issues with the irrigation system. We continue to find corro-sion attacking the underground wiring. I have volunteered to help control the fast spread of iguanas on the property. Since setting traps we have caught 4 larger iguanas. There are many left on our property and we will continue to trap and remove them. Florida considers iguanas an evasive species. They undermine walkways and sea walls. During the dry weather I had a few people help water the newly installed plants. Without their help, the drought would have been more detrimental to the front entrance area. A special thanks goes out to Ron Ledbetter along with Lisa and Harold Firebaugh who drug hoses and buckets of water outside the front gate on numerous occasions to water the thirsty new plantings. Thanks so much for your help. Enjoy August as this summer is rushing by. Until September Steve Hartley

OUR CONDOLENSES We are sadden to receive
news of the recent passing of one of our seasonal resident Cullen (Cully) Keane. Cully and Joan both from Canada, rented here for many years
and enjoyed our community for all of the activities that it offered. Cully was fortunate
to live a full life until 91. He was well known for his
creative telling of stories and jokes. All who knew him will agree that he could al-ways make you laugh with his French Canadian sense of humor . He will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Our thoughts are with his family and especially Joan during this difficult time.
