PARISH NEWS:

Ever heard of the alpha Course? “Ever heard of the alpha Course,” you say, “Of course I have. Well in that case you’ll be encouraged that we’re running it again at Longbeach in 2018 starting on February 20 at Lunch Church (11:30am in the Parish Centre at St Chad’s). For those of you who haven’t heard, the alpha Course is a series of discussions run over 10 weeks that explores who Jesus is and what relevance He has for our lives today. It is designed and presented by Nicky Gumble, the Vicar of Holy Trinity, Brompton. Each session begins with fellowship (sometimes over a meal) followed by a video presentation by Nicky, followed by coffee and discussion of the topic that Nicky explored in the session earlier. Here is what a few people said about the alpha Course: Sarah - Alpha was an amazing experience and it extended my knowledge on faith. I felt it educated me and improved my relationship with God. I would recommend anyone to go who is curious, anxious or needs guidance. Len - The Alpha course was an incredible experience. It was lovely to sit and ask questions in a safe and welcoming place. I was nervous to begin with but my confidence grew over the weeks, as did our friendship as a group. I really enjoyed the structure of the course with talks from Nicky Gumbel (he made me laugh and cry!) insightful discussion time and beautiful puddings. I would like to thank all the lovely people who provided yummy vegan options! We encourage you to pray about who you could invite to come to the alpha course and whether or not you would like to be a team member. Please see any of the staff if you have any questions or if you are able to help.
