The Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) of the IQAC
All NAAC accredited institutions will submit an annual self-reviewed progress report to NAAC, through
its IQAC. The report is to detail the tangible results achieved in key areas, specifically identified by the
institutional IQAC at the beginning of the academic year. The AQAR will detail the results of the
perspective plan worked out by the IQAC. (Note: The AQAR period would be the Academic Year. For
example, July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013)

The IQAC worked with a focus to meet the challenge of spurt in enrolment. New post graduate
courses were proposed as the major goal for the year and the IQAC and Janbhagidari committee of
the college decided to provide more academic options available in the institution. computer
application was introduced as new streams of academic work.

This institution is a Govt college therefore it does not need to function under some management
committee however all plans and their execution is carried out with a broad consensus of the staff
council. Most of the policy making is the prerogative of the Dept of Higher Education M.P. We ensure
the proper execution of the same.

It has been our endeavour to make maximum possible use of new technology and internet
facilities for the purposes of education. We encourage the faculty to adopt new tools of learning
and dissemination of information. The Department of higher education, Govt. of M.P. has a keen
interest in extension of eservices in every area of higher education. However, the use of
technology results in a simultaneous increase in expenses on new machines, their management
and maintenance. So, these are our new challenges that new opportunities have carried along.

The institution has been conducting remedial coaching classes to meet the diverse requirements
of the stakeholders. Besides this, there is a very strong mechanism to support the studies of those
students, who belong to the marginalized sections of the society. The Department of Higher
Education has various scholarships for the needy students in different categories.
The IQAC, since it comprises of most of the senior faculty members, has a much wider and over
all role to play in the smooth functioning of the academic as well as extracurricular activities of the
college.
Being a Govt. College, this is the first and foremost responsibility of the institution to abide by the
policies of the Dept of higher Education, Govt. of M.P. The institution has to ensure the
implementation of every given talk in very strict time- frame.

Career guidance and counselling of students for career placements is a new initiative in the
offing. The college runs conventional stream of degree courses therefore records of placement on
campus are almost negligible. However, efforts are on to improve the scene but it will take some
time to deliver the desired results.
The institution is vigilant and sensitive towards the important social responsibility of
gender parity. We have committees comprising of women members in the staff, who have
a responsibility to ensure the goal of gender parity as well as run awareness building
programmes and follow the mechanism of grievance-redress as per govt. laws and norms.

6. Governance, Leadership and Management
6.1 State the Vision and Mission of the institution
The institution was established by the state government with an objective to extend the reach of
higher education to the deprived and marginal sections of the society. Deori has been a centre of higher
education in Madhya Pradesh affiliated under Dr. Sir Hari Singh Gour university. The college had a
spurt of students number since 2009 when the university further diverted itself towards the national
mainstream of higher education as it was declared a central university. In brief the mission of the
college is the extension of higher education among the marginal sections of the society and our vision is
to gradually reach a level of excellence in this area.

6.3.2 Teaching and Learning
6.3.3 Examination and Evaluation
6.3.4 Research and Development
6.3.5 Library, ICT and physical infrastructure / instrumentation
6.3.6 Human Resource Management
As stated earlier too, the development of the curriculum for the government colleges is a duty of the central board of studies at Bhopal. However, our faculty members have played an active role by offering suggestions and modifications as and when required.
The quality improvement in teaching and learning is an ever-going process. Lot of innovations and
new developments have taken place over the years since our earlier accreditation by NAAC.
We have adopted the semester system of examination at every level.Use of new technology for the
purpose of teaching is another crucial development which has almost brought a revolution in the
teaching and learning activities.
Examination system has thoroughly changed with a focus on continuous and comprehensive
evaluation. As said above there is a uniform semester based system of examination for all the
courses, offered at every level.
Research and development has always been strength of our faculty members who have taken
maximum advantage from being placed at a town, which has a prestigious university. All the faculty
members are encouraged for research work in their respective fields. As a result, they have a good
academic record and some of them are research guides too.
Library facilities have been a priority of the administration. Now the use of ICT has completely
changed the scene and the library services are annually expanding with a gradual shift towards
digital books and access to the e-resources in the academic world.
The management of human resources is a two-layered function in the system we have. Major
number of employees, (regular in service), are in the state government services for the Dept. of
Higher Education, M.P. Even guest faculty teachers are invited via an online statewide
advertisement and a uniform system of selection on merit and priority for a particular place. Some
contract employees and data entry operators work on the collector rates and government norms as
applicable.
The institution has been successfully managing the transmission of information using latest
technology and cyber facilities. There is an online process for admission and filling the examination
forms. There is a dedicated team of assistants for the work.

State public service commission makes the regular recruitment of the academic staff. The guest
faculty members are invited through an online process controlled from the directorate of Higher
Education at Bhopal.
This region is largely agrarian and there is almost no scope of industry interaction at the local
level. However, with the passage of time and consistent growth, there is bound to be a positive
change in this area too.
Admissions are made on merit. There is full transparency in the system. Online admissions
process is a revolutionary change underway.

This Institution is neither a university nor an autonomous college. As an affiliating college,
we follow the norms and guidelines given by the university.
The university has limited role in the process of promoting autonomy. However the institution
has it as its objective in the years to come. The autonomy is provided by the UGC after the
concurrence of the state government. In due course of time we shall apply for it.
The alumni association is being encouraged. Contacts have been made with former students
and they have been exhorted to devote some of their means and time for the institution which
served them.
There is separate parent-teacher association which has conducted one meeting with the parents for their wards.
The department organizes the development programmes for the staff. The institution sends its
staff members for such trainings time to time.
The students of the NSS and NCC schemes in the college have made a lot of plantation work,
awareness campaign on No Tobacco day, Shahid diwas, Matdata jagrukta diwas etc. We also
run lectures on environmental issues and the necessity of conservation of our environment.
This is a crucial part of the undergraduate academic programmes too.

The goal or objective of the practice is obvious enough as the
title makes it self-explanatory. As responsible citizens, we have an
urgent duty to inculcate among our students a sense of responsibility
towards their less privileged brothers and sisters. The college took an
initiative in the direction and decided to chalk out a method for it.
3. The Context:
There is so much required to do for the poor and less
privileged in our social context that it hardly needs any further
elaboration. Our efforts were focussed in the direction of those areas
where our students and staff could easily reach out and provide some
relief and awareness. We reached out to lend our services in the nearby
old age home as well as a school for the children with special needs.
4. The Practice:
The students and staff members would make visits to the
referred institutions and make enquiries about the physical needs of
those children and elderly persons whom they met there. On the
successive visit, the necessary articles would be made available to the
needy. Children were mostly provided with learning aids and reading
materials as well as stationary.
5. Evidence of Success:
The scheme was largely successful and we
could make a humble contribution to a mammoth task. It is a work of
such a vast scope that the more you do the less it seems to be. There is
so much discrimination. Poverty and hunger around us that only an
awakened soul is required to devote one’s lifetime to the cause .
6. Problems Encountered and Resources Required:
The major problem is
to take the initiative. Once the noble work of this nature is started, more
and more people start contributing for the cause. With a little
dedication, students can be easily motivated for the noble cause.

_______***_______
The college has witnessed a big spurt in enrollment numbers. Our challenge of
providing more and more options of higher education to the students of the town
continues to stay before us. We intend to start a few more post graduate programmes in
the next academic year. We also have a plan to seek UGC grant for some building project
for extending the hostel facility in the college.
We are making consistent efforts in this area. On the one hand we are engaged in
awareness building activities and at the same time we are also making efforts to realize
small goals on the ground. Students are made aware on environmental issues by their
active involvement in different field level activities.
The institution has made a development plan keeping in view the suggestions made by
NAAC peer team in March, 2007. Consistent efforts are being made to strengthen the
services with gradual development on different criteria of higher education.

The IQAC worked with a focus to meet the challenge of spurt in enrolment. New post graduate
courses were proposed as the major goal for the year and the IQAC and Janbhagidari committee of
the college decided to provide more academic options available in the institution. computer
application and business administration were introduced as new streams of academic work.

This institution is a Govt college therefore it does not need to function under some management
committee however all plans and their execution is carried out with a broad consensus of the staff

This region is largely agrarian and there is almost no scope of industry interaction at the local
level. However, with the passage of time and consistent growth, there is bound to be a positive
change in this area too.
Admissions are made on merit. There is full transparency in the system. Online admissions
process is a revolutionary change underway.

Not Applicable.

7. Innovations and Best Practices
7.1 Innovations introduced during this academic year, which have created a positive impact on the
Functioning of the institution. Give details.
7.2 Provide the Action Taken Report (ATR) based on the plan of action decided upon at the beginning of
the year
7.3 Give two Best Practices of the institution (please see the format in the NAAC Self-study Manuals)
As stated in the best practises ahead, the institution made a few innovative efforts to improve the facilities and atmosphere on the campus. The details are available in the following reports made on the best practices.
The plan for the year was to increase the infrastructural facilities on the campus. In fact it was decided to be a plan for years to come since it is not possible to make everything available within limits of a particular academic session. The implementation of decided plan was satisfactory and we could extend facilities with a view to provide some more in the following session.
1. Title of the Practice
Personality Development Cell
2. Goal:
The goal of the scheme was to aquaint about the various professional Personality in and around the area who are doing meritorious work.
3. The Context: Since the town is in rural area students are made available about the Personality who give expert lecture on the experiences they share with the student. 4. The Practice:
The practice involves lot of hard work and extra work for the staff members of the college in initiating this program once in a month. Expert counselling and lectures regarding Personality Development is given by government official, semi-governments official etc.
5. Evidence of Success:
The practice was quite successful. As most of the students are benefited from time to time. 6. Problems Encountered and Resources Required:
With the academic calender proposed by the department of Higher education, the regular classes are hampered and there is shortage of regular staff.

2 1. Title :
Social work by the students and the staff
2. Goal :
With a little
dedication, students can be easily motivated for the noble cause.

was not applicable or it was difficult to verify a particular claim regarding some achievement.
_______***_______
The college has witnessed a big spurt in enrollment numbers. Our challenge of
providing more and more options of higher education to the students of the town
continues tostay before us.

The session had a tough challenge of quality sustenance before us. The gradual increase of the
enrolment had brought the institution to a level where much focussed efforts were necessiated to
maintain the quality of teaching and learning in the college. The incentives of scholarship and other
facilities given to students of marginalised section by the department of higher education doubly
increased our responsibilities. On the one hand, it resulted in a rapid increase of GER and at the
same time it brought the tough challenge of assuring the quality with the ever growing numbers of
students.
_
This institution is a Govt college therefore it does not need to function under some management
committee however all plans and their execution is carried out with a broad consensus of the staff
council. Most of the policymaking is the prerogative of the Dept of Higher Education M.P. We ensure
the proper execution of the same.

The institution continues conducting lectures under Vivekanand Career Guidance Scheme.
Besides this, there is a very strong mechanism to support the studies of those students, who belong
to the marginalized sections of the society. The Department of Higher Education has various
scholarships for the needy students in different categories.

6.2 Does the Institution has a management Information System
6.3 Quality improvement strategies adopted by the institution for each of the following:
6.3.1 Curriculum Development
6.3.2 Teaching and Learning
6.3.3 Examination and Evaluation
6.3.4 Research and Development
6.3.5 Library, ICT and physical infrastructure / instrumentation
The institution was established by the state government with an objective to extend the reach of
higher education to the deprived and marginal sections of the society. Deori has been a centre of higher
education in rural area of Sagar District. Since 1964 the colleges affiliated with Dr. Hari Singh Gour
University Sagar. The college had a spurt of student’s number since 2007 when the college further
diverted itself towards the national mainstream of higher education. In brief the mission of the college
is the extension of higher education among the marginal sections of the society and our vision is to
gradually reach a level of excellence in rural area.
As stated earlier too, the development of the curriculum for the government colleges is a duty of the central board of studies at Bhopal. However, our faculty members have played an active role by offering suggestions and modifications as and when required.
The quality improvement in teaching and learning is an ever going process. Lot of innovations and
new developments have taken place over the years since our earlier accreditation by NAAC. The
semester system of examination has been adopted at every level of examination and it has brought
new challenges before us. Use of new technology for the purposes of teaching is another crucial
development which has almost brought a revolution in the teaching and learning activities.
Examination system has thoroughly changed with a focus on continuous and comprehensive
evaluation. The semester system has been uniformly adopted for all the courses offered at every
level.
All the faculty members are encouraged for research work in their respective fields. As a result
they have a good academic record and some of them are research guides also.
Library facilities have been a priority of the administration. Now the use of ICT has completely
changed the scene and the library services are annually expanding with a gradual shift towards
digital books and access to the e-resources in the academic world.
The institution has been successfully managing the transmission of information using latest
technology and cyber facilities. The admission process and filling of examination forms have been
made online. There is a dedicated team of assistants for the work.

The management of human resources is a two layered function in the system we have. Major
number of employees, (regular in service) are in the state government services for the Dept. of
Higher Education, M.P. Even guest faculty teachers are invited via an online statewide
advertisement and a uniform system of selection on merit and priority for a particular place. Finally
there are some contract employees and data entry operators who work on the collector rates and
government norms as applicable.
State public service commission makes the regular recruitment of the academic staff. The guest
faculty members are invited through an online process controlled from the directorate of Higher
Education at Bhopal.
This region is largely agrarian and there is almost no scope of industry interaction at the local
level. However with the passage of time and consistent growth, there is bound to be a positive
change in this area too.
Admissions are made on merit. There is full transparency in the system. Online admissions
process is a revolutionary change underway.

This Institution is neither a university nor an autonomous college. As an affiliating college,
we follow the norms and guidelines given by the university.
The autonomy is provided by the UGC after the concurrence of the state government. In due
course of time we shall apply for it.
The alumni association is being encouraged. Contacts have been made with former students and
they have been exhorted to devote some of their means and time for the institution which served
them.
There is no separate parent-teacher association but in future it will be done as soon as possible.
The department organizes the development programmes for the staff. The institution sends its
staff members for such trainings time to time.

Criterion – VII
7. Innovations and Best Practices
7.1 Innovations introduced during this academic year, which have created a positive impact on the
Functioning of the institution. Give details.
7.2 Provide the Action Taken Report (ATR) based on the plan of action decided upon at the beginning of
the year
The students of the NSS and NCC schemes in the college have made a lot of plantation work.
We also run lectures on environmental issues and the necessity of conservation of our
environment. This is a crucial part of the undergraduate academic programmes too.
As stated in the best practises ahead, the institution made a few innovative efforts to improve the facilities and atmosphere on the campus. The details are available in the following reports made on the best practices.
The plan for the year was to ensure quality enhancement and put serious efforts not to allow any dilution of quality in the services against the backdrop of increasing number of students. The number of students have increased in four years, it has become more than double of the current admissions.
Revised Guidelines of IQAC and submission of AQAR Page 20
7.3 Give two Best Practices of the institution (please see the format in the NAAC Self-study Manuals)
1. Title of the Practice
Internalization of Values and Ethics 2. Goal
Integrated curriculum for value based education 3. The Context The all-pervading cultural decadence in the society has brought us to a brink of disaster. It is our paramount duty to provide our children with what has been our precious cultural heritage for thousands of years. The onslaught of materialism has brought a formidable challenge that cannot be overcome without due concern and consistent efforts. 4. The Practice We have introduced value education as a compulsory component of our undergraduate foundation courses in all the streams. The students are supposed to know and practice what is taught on ethics and morality in the Class rooms. 5. Evidence of Success It is not very easy to make a remarkable or noticeable difference, within a short span of time. However, a positive action leads to a desirable result. We are hopeful of making our humble contribution towards an urgent national duty.
6. Problems Encountered and Resources Required
The persistent countering of a cultural invasion is a tough task. The students belong to a vulnerable age group where personality is easily shaped by their role models. With so much media onslaught around, we do our best to stay as role models for our students and we put every effort to practice first and preach later.

2 1. Title : Student Counselling
2. Goal
The idea of counselling is not to be confused by the notion of an activity
at the time of students’ admissions. It is true that students’ counselling is a
yearlong process, which starts at the time of admission and continues
through various stages of academic work during the year.
3. The Context:
With a rapid increase in enrolment, we were faced with the
challenge of evolving a mechanism to make a direct contact with every
student to look into the individual needs, which are not common many times.
It was even more required since youngsters are many times in need of
psychological counselling too.
4. The Practice:
The staff members were assigned responsibilities to deal with
different sections of students and solve their issues on as many problems as
possible. A direct conversation outside the classroom atmosphere generates a
sense of confidence and security in a student facing some sort of problem
which may be either very small or it may also be of some grave nature.
5. Evidence of Success:
Undoubtedly having a close rapport with the students
made a lot of difference. It also helped us a lot in managing discipline issues
since close association with teachers makes it a moral binding on students to
behave well and maintain a good image before the teachers whom they
consider as their role models.
6. Problems Encountered and Resources Required
The major problem is that we are
short of hands. The growing enrolment has simply outnumbered the available
staff and many times, it affects the quality and efficacy of the practice. Time
constraint is a factor, which one cannot overcome without providing a desired
number of teachers for the work that is assigned to them. A teacher looking for
the needs of fifty students can do much better than his counterpart who has to
deal with, say a hundred students.

_______***_______
The college has witnessed a big spurt in enrollment numbers. Our challenge of
providing more and more options of higher education to the students of the town
continues to stay before us. We intend to provide a few more facilities on the campus in
the next academic year. The e-library is one of our objectives. We also have a plan to seek
UGC grant for some building project for extending the hostel facility in the college.

There have been continuous efforts for quality assurance since the last few academic sessions.
We have witnessed a rapid increase in GER, which made it all the more urgent for us to shift
towards more and more use of technology for the dissemination of knowledge. The teaching and
learning process in our time is heavily governed by the use of internet and digital methods. The
concept of e-library is a modern gateway to access the global pool of knowledge and information.
We decided to make it available on the campus during the academic year. We are happy to state that
it could be started successfully though a lot more is needed to make it accessible for such a big
number of students that we need to serve.
This institution is a Govt college therefore it does not need to function under some management
committee however all plans and their execution is carried out with a broad consensus of the staff
council. Most of the policy making is the prerogative of the Dept of Higher Education M.P. We ensure
the proper execution of the same.

5. Student Support and Progression
5.1 Contribution of IQAC in enhancing awareness about Student Support Services
The staff members and students are continuously encouraged to learn and have an access to new
resources of learning and office work. The state government organizes training courses of short
duration for the employees. The work culture in college has gradually adopted computers and its
accessories all most fully.

The IQAC, since it comprises of most of the senior faculty members, has a much wider and over
all role to play in the smooth functioning of the academic as well as extracurricular activities of the
college.

The institution has been conducting coaching classes under Vivekanand Career Guidance
scheme to meet the diverse requirements of the stakeholders. Besides this, there is a very strong
mechanism to support the studies of those students, who belong to the marginalized sections of the
society. The Department of Higher Education has various scholarships for the needy students in
different categories.

6.3.1 Curriculum Development

However our faculty members have played an active role by offering suggestions and modifications as and when required.
The institution has been successfully managing the transmission of information using latest
technology and cyber facilities. The admission process and filling of examination forms have been
made online. There is a dedicated team of assistants for the work.

6.3.5 Library, ICT and physical infrastructure / instrumentation
6.3.6 Human Resource Management
6.3.7 Faculty and Staff recruitment
6.3.8 Industry Interaction / Collaboration
The quality improvement in teaching and learning is an ever going process. Lot of innovations and
new developments have taken place over the years since our earlier accreditation by NAAC.
The semester system of examination has been adopted at every level of examination and it has
brought new challenges before us. Use of new technology for the purposes of teaching is another
crucial development which has almost brought a revolution in the teaching and learning activities.
Examination system has thoroughly changed with a focus on continuous and comprehensive
evaluation. The semester system has been uniformly adopted for all the courses offered at every
level.
All the faculty members are encouraged for research work in their respective fields. As a
result they have a good academic record and some of them are research guides also.
Library facilities have been a priority of the administration. Now the use of ICT has completely
changed the scene and the library services are annually expanding with a gradual shift towards
digital books and access to the e-resources in the academic world.
The management of human resources is a two layered function in the system we have. Major
number of employees, ( regular in service) are in the state government services for the Dept. of
Higher Education, M.P.

7. Innovations and Best Practices
7.1 Innovations introduced during this academic year, which have created a positive impact on the
Functioning of the institution. Give details.
7.2 Provide the Action Taken Report (ATR) based on the plan of action decided upon at the beginning of
the year
The autonomy is provided by the UGC after the concurrence of the state government. In due
course of time we shall apply for it.
The alumni association is being encouraged. Contacts have been made with former students
and they have been exhorted to devote some of their means and time for the institution which
served them.
There is no separate parent-teacher association but in future it will be done as soon as possible.
The department organizes the development programmes for the staff. The institution sends its
staff members for such trainings time to time.

7.3 Give two Best Practices of the institution (please see the format in the NAAC Self-study Manuals)
1. Title of the Practice E-Library (to be implemented in the next session) 2. Goal : The purpose was to bring for our students the latest resources of learning.
3. The Context:
We are all aware that in the present times internet has become the most powerful tool for the dissemination of information. In this context it was a paramount duty of the institute to make the latest and most acclaimed resources available for our students. There is much left to do in this regard but we are proud to take an initiative and make a humble beginning towards the goal of an e-library. We had conceptualized the idea for long but with government agreed for aid in next year, we should start it on next academic session. 4. The Practice
The practice consisted of providing ten computer terminals in the library building. Apart from this, some other digital tools like multi-media projector, barcode printers and scanners will also available so as to transform the scene of library from its traditional ways to a paperless exercise. 5. Evidence of Success:
The practice will be quite hope full. With the passage of time, the work keeps extending and more and more responsibilities are being assigned to this institution. We are happy to go on extra mile for the social responsibility which all of us have before us. In the next sessions, we will going to extend the services of the library on a suitable parameter. 6. Problems Encountered and Resources Required:
There will be some initial difficulty that we faced while training our library staff for the new ways. However, the resources required happen to be a major issue. It is an expensive practice with a continuous expenditure.

2 1. Title : Decentralization and Networking
2. Goal :
The objective of the practice is to decentralize the academic and
administrative functions of the institution so as to achieve more
efficiency in respective work areas.
3. The Context:
The college has some additional responsibilities as a rural
and tribal area of Sagar District. Our responsibilities to assist the
various new dimensions of educational environment.
4. The Practice:
Academic work has been largely assigned for its proper
regulation to heads of the departments who monitor the time bound
completion of classes, the internal assessments and other
extracurricular activities too.
5. Evidence of Success:
The smooth functioning is the evidence itself that
the decentralized pattern of work has been highly successful.
6. Problems Encountered and Resources Required:
The major problem is
to discontinuation of electricity and bad signals of internet due to rural
area. Of course it requires a lot of encouragement and patience to lead a
team with tough goals.

_______***_______
The college has witnessed a big spurt in enrollment numbers. Our challenge of
providing more and more options of higher education to the students of the town
continues today before us. We intend to start a few more post graduate programmes in
the next academic year. We also have a plan to seek UGC grant for some building project
for extending the hostel facility in the college.
The institution is alive to the concern for protection of environment as it can be
inferred from the initiatives launched by the college in the direction we have been
continuously running awareness building programmes, lectures on it. The greenery on
the campus is also our priority.
The institution has made a development plan keeping in view the suggestions made by
NAAC peer team in March, 2007. Consistent efforts are being made to strengthen the
services with gradual development on different criteria of higher education.
