Activity 1 –Team Name

You need to come up with a name for your team

Your team name must be chosen for a reason which you have to be able to explain to others

leader) Once you have chosen a team

leader – you need to split up into 2 teams:

Your ChallengeYour challenge is to create a board game

thatwill be sold in shops for Christmas.

You will have to find out market research,design your board game, write

instructionsfor it, make an advert for it, work out the

budgetand then pitch your idea to an audience.

Activity 3 – Market ResearchMarket research means finding out

informationabout the people who you are trying

to get to buy your product.

- Find out about different board games available in the shops?

- Find out what board games people want to play?

Activity 4 – Analysing DataLook through the information you gathered.Now you must decide what you have learnt:

•Are there any games that are more popular than others?

•Were there any patterns in the answers, e.g. did a lot of people say they wanted the same kind of product?

•Were there things they wanted that you couldn’t possibly make?

•What were the really good ideas?

Activity 5– Product Name•Using your market research, you have to

nowdesign a product name•You also need to design a slogan

A slogan is a memorable phrase that will make people think of your product

The key to people remembering your product – even if you don’t mention the name!

Task 6• Create your board game• It should be bright and colourful, fun, kid friendly

and possible even educational

Task 7• Your game needs instructions• You have to write a set of clear instructions to

explain how your game might be played• Remember instructions need: bossy verbs,

numbered step by step, time connectives and materials needed

Advertising TeamTask 6• You need to create an advert for your product• First you will need to plan what your advert will

say/contain• Once you are finished you will take turns to film

your advert!

Task 7• Budgeting money

(Extra Task)• Create a poster to advertise your board game

Budgeting• Dice cost R1 each to make• Counters cost 50c each to make• A board costs R10 to make• Cards and extras cost R15 to make

You need to work out how much your board game willcost to make. You then need to decide how much youwill sell it for and you need to make a profit!!

• If you sell 10 board games, how much will you make?• If you sell 5 board games, how much will you make?• If you sell 100 board games, how much will you

make?
