This was done to cement a stronger relationship with patrons by engaging them with the archival process. A noteworthy collection of photographs transferred to the archive this quarter is evidence of our former Chairman Sohrab Godrej’s international appeal.
The photographs, spanning the late 1960s, were taken on various state visits organised by the Indo-Malaysian Society, of which Mr. Godrej was the President. While several photographs show Mr. Sohrab Godrej felicitating dignitaries from Malaysia, one particular picture (see right) has him present a Godrej Coffer to His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Raj Bhavan on 5th April 1969.

Models M9 and M8 plug the gap in our collection
Models M9 and M8, or the first two models of Godrej manual typewriters, introduced in 1955 and 1959 respectively, heralding the company into a market previously monopolised by international players, were purchased by Godrej Archives from Mr. Rajesh Palta of Delhi's Universal Typewriters. Mr. Palta, whose family fled Pakistan for India during partition with their most precious possessions: four typewriters, have been associated with Godrej Typewriters as dealers since the 1970s. With the transfer of these, Godrej Archives is proud to announce that the complete array of Godrej manual typewriters – M9 (1955), M8 (1959), M-12 (1965), AB (1970), PB (1979) and Prima (1982) – is now a part of our collection.
