Art Electives: Course Descriptions
Crafts/Printmaking The course looks at different cultures, artists, time periods or regions depending upon the type of craft or printing technique being explored. Possible crafts units include: jewelry making, millefiori techniques with polymer clay, papermaking, tie dying, metal repousse. Possible printmaking will cover any number of processes such as linoleum block printing, monoprinting, silkscreen printing, or embossing.
Painting/Drawing This class is for any student who wants to improve their current skills in painting and drawing. In drawing, advance your knowledge of shading, proportion, figure drawing and perspective. Learn to draw things you thought you never could!! In painting, learn how to control and blend colors so you can paint your ideas and develop your own style.
Art Electives: Course Descriptions
Sculpture/Ceramics Move over Michelangelo! Sculpture units explore various processes such as carving, assembling and modeling. Transform a block of sand into a unique sculpture. In ceramics, students create pottery and clay structures using various hand building techniques. Vases, teapots, covered containers and sculptures are all possible! Design and function will be stressed.
Photography Students learn to explore the world through the viewfinder of the camera and create images that are both meaningful and expressive. They learn how a camera works, how to discover and select subject matter, use a darkroom, develop film, and various printing and enlarging techniques. Students must have their own 35 mm camera. No digital or advantix cameras may be used.
Photography: 8th Grade Learn about your camera, to load film, take GREAT pictures and print AWESOME photographs in the darkroom!! (digital imaging too!)

7th or 8th grade–Crafts/Printmaking
ONLY in 8th grade–Painting/Drawing–Sculpture/Ceramics –Photography
