Exercise 20

1. Open a new worksheet.

You have been asked to do the shopping for a youth group picnic. Mrs Jones said that 20 people turned up last year. As far as she can remember she purchased; 25 apples, 25 oranges, 3 packets of biscuits, 4 loaves of bread, a tub of margarine, 6 cartons of milk, 2 bottles of cordial, a packet of cheese, 4 kilos of tomatoes and some lollies. She made cheese and tomato sandwiches and everybody had a good time. You have found out the following prices: Tomatoes $2.99 per kg Cordial $1.35 per bottle Milk $1.20 per carton Apples $0.40 each Oranges $0.55 each Biscuits $2.10 per packet Bread $1.90 per loaf Margarine $2.45 per tub Cheese $2.15 per packet Lollies $2.95 per packet

2. Based on the above information design a worksheet which will show the cost of each item and the total cost of the picnic. Decide for yourself the quantities required to cater for 20 people.

3. Use this information to calculate an approximate cost if you catered for 30 people?

4. Mrs Toogood says she won't let her children eat lollies. What would be the difference if you bought nectarines for everyone instead? They cost 60 cents each.

Hint: Do not delete any of the already existing information. Simply add to your spreadsheet.

5. Save the worksheet.

6. Check your formulae with your trainer.

7. Format the worksheet with borders, shading etc to make it easier to read.

Hint: Use the format painter to help you with this.

8. Insert an 8 pt footer incorporating the page number and filename.

9. Insert a header incorporating the date and “Version 1.1”.

10. Save the worksheet.

11. Print.

12. Save as a webpage.
