INT. THOMAS HOUSE DAY

KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK. The front door vibrates in its doorframe from the force. A shadowof a figure can be seen in the doors frosted glass.

CARE HOME WORKER (OFF SCREEN)

Mr Hanford? Mr Hanford we know youre inside, will you please open this door?

(Sigh)(KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK.) Mr Hanford!

A waste paper bin convenes beside the front door; a closer look reveals a care home

brochure amongst the rubbish.

An exhibition of the hallway begins displaying important memorabilia of Mr Hanford.

Photographs line the walls of Mr Hanford when he was a child in fancy dress, in his Navy

days, Mr Hanford with his wife on his wedding day, in the hospital receiving their firstborn Also memorabilia from his Navy days including medals.

The door of the cellar is shown ajar.

FADE TO BLACK

FADE IN:

INT. THOMAS DEN (CELLAR) DAY

More memorabilia such as Mr Hanfords old Navy uniform leads the way to where

THOMAS HANFORD sits in an armchair in the middle of his makeshift den.

CARE HOME WORKER (OFF SCREEN, IN THE DISTANCE)

Mr Hanford! If you let us in we can figure something out.Thomas is sitting with a sad frown upon his face as the Care Home Worker speaks then

looks down and a smile twitches at the corner of him mouth.

In between his hands resting on his lap is a glass bottle. A nearer inspection reveals that it

holds a miniature pirate ship.

Final ScriptEXT. TOMS PIRATE SHIP DAY, DREAM

SOUND OF THE WAVES. A pirate ship is on a voyage out in the open sea.

TOM, a small slim child with resemblance to pensioner Thomas is in position atop theships mast. He captains this ship.

CLUNK. A grappling hook attaches to the railing of Toms ship.

THUD. A boot connects with the ships deck.

CAPTAIN DELEO, a large, beefy but squat pirate stands on deck his sword drawn.

Duelling commences. CLINK. CLANK. CLINK. The two pirates move back and forth on the

deck.

CREAK. The two pirates are now duelling on the ships plank. Capt. Deleo disarms Tom and

moves in.

A ring of rope now encircles Capt. Deleos leg.Tom dodges while Capt. Deleo freezes with shock.

Tom is standing next to the mast and holding onto a hanging length of rope.

Tom pulls the rope. WOOSH. Capt. Deleo is thrust into the air.

CLUNK. The grappling hook fastens to the mast.

Capt. Deleo is swinging by his leg from the mast.

FADE OUT.

FADE IN:

INT. THOMAS DEN (CELLAR) - DUSK

The bottle with the pirate ship model sits on Thomas knee. His hand rests loosely on top.Thomas eyes are peacefully closed, his head tilted to the side and a small smile about his

face.

The den is as it was; Thomas is surrounded by his memories and adventures.

FADE TO WHITE.
