The Artist’s name is  The artwork I am looking at is called ……………..(insert title) and is a ….(insert type. Painting, sculpture, print, drawing, installation, photograph etc)…………… The Form of the Work (how it looks) The main subject is ….(a building/ landscape/ portrait of…./still life / organic pattern) The colours are…..    (bright/flat/tonal/bold/monochrome/cold/warm/contrasting/complementary/earthy/ dull) The shapes are ..(symmetrical/ asymmetrical/ flowing/ simple/ sharp/ bold/ geometric/ organic) The forms are ..(figurative (life like)/ Abstract/ Semi Abstract)

The Process of the Work (how it was made)  The artist seems to have worked from …(observation/ memory/ Imagination) I think this because….(it is very realistic/ it shows something that happened before/ it is Abstract). I think the artist….(planned the work carefully before they started/ worked intuitively (deciding what to do as they worked)..because…(the paint is splashed on/the perspective is very complicated…)

You can see evidence of skill in the use of (Varied tones/ foreshortening/ shading/ ICT/ Impasto/ accurate mixing / Shadows/precise pattern/balanced composition/intricate design)

The Content of the Work (what it’s about). I think the work is about ..(Nature/ War/ Love/ Religion/ The Sea/ Discrimination/ Inclusion) It seems the artist is interested in …(telling a story/ the changing weather/ the impact of colours and shapes alone/ realism/ pattern) The Mood of the work (how it makes you feel). This piece of work makes me feel ..(calm, intrigued/happy/tense..)This is because..(the subject/ colours/shapes/forms is/are…(refer to earlier sections of the sheet if necessary). I think the artists mood was…(concerned/ joyful/anxious/peaceful,angry..) If they had wanted to show a different feeling they could of done this by changing the ..(Composition/ focus of/ interest/perspective/colours/textures/light/shapes) to…(show more shadowy contrasts/ softer more harmonious shapes/include more diagonal and vertical lines).

Edward Weston The artwork I am looking at is called Pepper 1927 and it is a Black and White Photograph  The main subject is still life of a pepper standing upThe colours are Monochrome, Black and white and they include the whole tonal range from black to white. The shapes are organic and flowing and the textures are smooth. The forms are almost figurative like a persons back

I think the work is about nature and the similarities of beauty in all living things. It seems the artist is interested in showing the realism of a pepper by transforming it into a sculptureThis piece of work makes me feel calm and intrigued. If they had wanted to show a different feeling they could of done this by changing the lighting

The artist seems to have worked from observation, I think this because it is very realistic

I think the artist….(planned the work carefully before they started because the lighting has been well thought through to show the qualities of the pepper.

You can see evidence of  skill in the use of the sharp focus  on the whole pepper and the subtle lighting effects.
