The Associate Company Scheme
“We have been representing users’ interests since 1950. Founded by some of the biggest names in industry, the Association was and still is regarded as an essential means of keeping abreast of a changing regulatory environment, and ensuring capital assets are operated safely, efficiently and effectively in a world where technologies and economies are transforming.
EEMUA has been at the forefront of establishing good practice across a range of industries and technical disciplines; from tank storage to alarm management, from working in hazardous areas to ensuring the integrity of ageing plant, demonstrating its members’ involvement in tackling the issues of the day. Our Technical Committees and Forums provide a range of opportunities for your technical experts to maintain and extend their technical competence through interaction with their peers. Being involved in the development of good practice guidance can help your organisation be a leader in the field of industrial asset management – helping to put together the methodologies that will be used by the users of industrial assets for the next seventy years.
We are proud to be the voice of the user, but we listen to our associates as well.
Join EEMUA and gain access to a non-competitive network for you to share experiences and build relationships, across a diverse range of industries.
Dr Stefan Kukula, Chief Executive
About EEMUAEEMUA is a non-profit membership organisation representing companies that are significant purchasers and users of engineering equipment and materials of construction.
Our members invariably operate industrial establishments or assets with safety-critical operations and cover facilities like process plants, power stations, offshore platforms, storage terminals, energy, utility transport, distribution systems and other engineering assets around the world.
We focus our efforts on the most critical issues for owners and operators, helping them maintain the right balance of in-house engineering expertise, stay abreast of a broad and increasingly complex regulatory landscape and operate their capital assets efficiently, effectively and in compliance with relevant legislation, regulation and standard.
Membership spans multiple sectors and technical activities, covering the full scope of industrial asset management.
As service providers to our Members and other owners and operators of industrial assets, Associates play a key role in industry by carrying out inspections, providing relevant training, integrity management, risk management and much more, where needed.

The board has both governance and leadership roles. Both are made up of member representatives ensuring that we are run by engineers for engineers.

“D&C Engineering has been involved with EEMUA for many years and in various ways. Our involvement in EEMUA’s Storage Tanks
Committee (STC) has helped develop a number of technical guidance like EEMUA
159 and the associated competency scheme, CompeTank®, which has run successfully for nearly two decades. We are still heavily
involved in the planning and delivery of the scheme, making reference to the
Roman phrase “docendo discimus”, i.e. by teaching others we learn. Our aim as an
organisation is to share good practice that will contribute to fewer incidents, less volatile organic compound emissions and a greater awareness of how to deal with hazardous substances within the storage tank industry. This matches EEMUA’s aims to help users
improve the safety, environmental and operating performance of industrial facilities in
the most cost-effective way.”D&C Engineering
