The award-winning Comfee Seat is an innovative, supportive and practical seating system for children and adults of all ages and abilities, designed specifically for leisure time in the home, school or in respite care.
The Comfee Seat’s large contoured memory foam cushions help to relieve pressure and ensure maximum comfort of the user. This, along with tilt-in-space as standard, enables the user to relax and integrate more easily into social activities with their friends or family.
The Comfee seat is available in a range of beautiful, machine washable fabrics designed to blend into any living area, or alternatively, you can select one of the contemporary designs to make a statement in your home.
Ultimately, the Comfee Seat is as attractive and comfortable as an armchair without losing the quality of the postural support Leckey is known for.
At Leckey we are very proud of our core values which promote responsibility and integrity, and encourage innovation and passion. We dare to be different so we can make a difference!
In recognition of the innovative design, the Comfee Seat won two awards at the 2012 Irish Design Institute awards ceremony including the coveted Universal Design accolade, meaning that products or buildings are inherently accessible both to people without disabilities and people with disabilities. The judges at the IDI awards also considered the Comfee Seat to be the Best in Furniture category, stating
“functional for users and carers alike, this chair has been carefully considered to provide effective yet understated support in a domestic environment.”
Pelvic Stability
Leg and Foot Positioning
The Comfee Seat is designed to provide appropriate pelvic support in all positions and configurations even when it is fully reclined.
Everyone needs to feel comfortable. The Comfee Seat keeps this foremost, even when thinking about leg and foot positioning.

Calf Support Elevation
A strong, comfortable four-point pelvic belt keeps clients secure in an upright posture, and prevents them from sliding when in a reclined posture.
When hamstrings are tight, sitting comfortably becomes more difficult. The ability of the Comfee Seat to recline with the calf support in its most rearward position, can reduce the tension on these muscles.
The multi-functional armrests have an innovative design feature allowing them to be angle adjusted, providing lateral stability to both the pelvis and lower trunk. They are easy to adjust, providing appropriate support to arms, and facilitating tray attachment.
The multi-adjustable footplate, not only includes soft protective padding, but can flip upright to aid transfers. It can also angle adjust to accommodate plantarflexion and dorsiflexion ensuring appropriate foot support.
The Comfee Seat base is ramped to give the best alignment of pelvis and femurs. The cushion’s outer layer of memory foam aids pressure distribution, while the firmer foam underlayer prevents bottoming out.
Whether it’s to provide an alternative sitting posture, or just to give an extra relaxed feeling, the legs can be elevated to a position that suits.
Trunk and Head PositioningWhile comfort is a primary feature of the Comfee Seat, upright alignment remains a key consideration of its design, and when needed, trunk and head support is readily available.
Trunk Support HeadrestRecline & TiltThe trunk can be fully supported using both the specially designed angle adjustable armrests and the discreet yet effective lateral supports which can be easily flipped away to aid transfers.
A cosy contoured headrest with optional speakers is available if needed, but if this level of head support is not required, your own pillow or plush toy can be used if preferred.
When fully reclined and tilted, the Comfee Seat provides a secure solution which feels virtually supine. This gives better postural stability than the sofa, but is just as comfy.
Pressure MappingThe images below show that the Comfee Seat foam reduces pressure by more than 30% in the seat cushions and more than 15% in the back cushions compared to a standard foam of the same depth.

Comfort is integral to sustaining a functional posture as it reduces unwanted movement when users are uncomfortable. The combination of firmer foam and memory foam allows for greater degree of pelvic immersion, distributing pressure over a larger base of support and increasing comfort.
The wide range of accessories, push handle and washable fabrics mean that whether recuperating, resting or relaxing, the Comfee Seat is always practical as well as comfortable.
Personal belongings or medical necessities, such as equipment to monitor breathing or feeding can be unobtrusively stored below the seat.
The addition of optional headrest with speakers allows the user to indulge their own personal hobbies and interests.
Whether with the family or in their own space, they can relax in style with the Comfee seat.
Accessory Shelf
The intuitive adjustments are gas assisted to ensure smooth transitions and ease of use.
When fully reclined and tilted, the Comfee Seat provides a secure solution which feels virtually supine. This gives better postural stability than the sofa, but is just as comfy.
All fabrics are put through a rigorous test criteria before use to ensure they meet or exceed the appropriate levels of flame retardancy and durability. The fabrics are machine washable and also coated with a unique and enduring anti-microbial and anti-bacterial treatment which lasts and is effective for the life of the product.
