Interested persons are asked to contact Bosko Medakovic on 07979725196. Young Volunteer: Our congratulations go to U14's Palace Team Coach, Joe Dallow upon winning the L&BBFC Young Volunteer of the Year

Award 2017/18. At only 17yrs old, former player Joe has latterly been at the helm of our Palace squad and has shown great leadership ability and maturity in guiding them through their league campaign this season at a time when suitable parental volunteers were lacking.

BCFC: The L&BBFC U11's Saints headed up to St Andrews to take part in the Precision Pass Tour & Tournament hosted by FA Championship

side, Birmingham City FC. See feature further herein…

Tables: With this season's fixture programme finally completed last month, find out where our sides finished in their respective league tables in

the feature further herein…

Under 9's: Our U9's Partizan are keen to attract new players for next season. For further details, interested persons are asked to see the fea-

ture further herein…

CTFC: Our congratulations go to former young Badger, Ross Grimshaw, who was called up last month as the reserve goalkeeper by Chelten-

ham Town FC in their final Football League Two match of the season at Crew Alexandra FC.

Drinks: With the hot weather about, we are reminding all concerned of the need to ensure that youngsters in particular, are well hydrated. Our

venues don’t have running water available so it is up to parents to ensure that youngsters have a suitable drink available at games and ses-sions. Despite some parental expectations… this is not a club or club coach responsibility!

ERU: Our congratulations go to another former young Badger, Ted Hill, who was again called up by the English Rugby Union to represent the

country at U20's age, in a recent game against their South African counterparts.

AGM: Please note that the Club's 2017/18 AGM has been set for Saturday 14th July 2018. Further details to follow…

Tournament: Congratulations to our victorious U9's Spartak side who landed the Crowle Searchers FC Tournament Shield 2018 after a very

closely contested and narrow 1-0 win over Bidford Juniors FC in the final, last month. See feature further herein.

Directory…

At last… Season 2017/18 has been played out…

With games played right up until the recent Bank Holiday, our sides have now officially fulfilled their fixture pro-grammes. Somewhat bizarrely, our U16's Town missed out on the potential runners-up spot due to the league de-claring their outstanding postponed fixture against club mates, U16's County, a drawn game but awarding neither side any points. The result consigned the Town to an eventual fourth place… some three points shy of second spot!

Comments From The Coach

Bosko Medakovic, Senior Coach – Boys Junior Football & Development (FA Level 2)

'No Respect = No Referee = No Game' – Get The Message And Support The FA’s Respect Campaign!

'L&BBFC relies heavily on effective communication'…

Wow… is it really 200 times that I have provided a feature in our monthly club newsletter… I must admit that the time seems to have really flown by since our first edition which I recall took the form of a two

sided A4 paper issue!

Running an ever increasing voluntary organisation like L&BBFC relies heavily on effective communication that is able to capture as many of our members, parents,

volunteers, sponsors, benefactors, partners, and supporters as we possibly can, which was the main reason we introduced the Badgers' Scene way back in October 2001.

Today we still run with the newsletter albeit in an electronic format, but our communication network has since been further under-pinned with a club website and more recently a club face book account along-side the usual club meetings and AGM! If you know of folk who say they don't know what's going on or have never seen our newsletter… just send in their email address to our Editor for inclusion on our newsletter circulation list!

Talking of news and following on from the feature in last month's issue… another step in the right direc-tion saw ex-Badgers goalkeeper, Ross Grimshaw (pictured left) called up to the first team for Chelten-ham Town FC in their final League Two match of the season at Crewe Alexandra FC, which ended in a

2-1 defeat and eventual 17th

place finish for the Robins.

Although Ross remained an un-used goalkeeping substi-tute on the day, the experience and confidence that such a call up can give a young player is immense, and says much about his progress and being noticed. At only 18 years old, it is another proud moment for Ross and his

family, as indeed it is for us all at L&BBFC… where it all began. Well done Ross! See the full Robins team sheet

for the game (right)

Also on the bench for the Robins was another local lad, Adam Page who has helped with coaching our U14's

Palace this season alongside, young coach, Joe Dallow.

As an aside, dad Neil (a former club coach and L&BBFC Legends player) told me that to cap off the first team call up, Ross had also been contacted by FIFA PlayStation, who were looking to add him to their player portfolio… that seemed to make his day!

Another former L&BBFC youngster making headway in sport is Ted Hill. The ex-L&BBFC Rangers 'hitman' swapped the round ball for a more 'funny looking' one and has never looked back since! At only 19 years

old, Ted was again capped by the England Rugby Union to represent the U20's against their South African counterparts, in a game played locally at Worcester RFC's, Sixways Stadium last month. Furthermore, we understand that Ted is also in the squad to represent his country in the coming World U20's Rugby Cham-

pionships in France this summer.

Former Rangers Team Coach, Matt Martin contacted me about this fantastic achievement, and jokingly questioned what on earth were the former Rangers' FA qualified Coaches, Franco Adorisio and Paul

Weaver doing to have churned out such a great young rugby talent!

Ted, seen right in his England kit, joined the Badgers as a youngster where he won numerous league, cup, and tournament honours at almost every age level before giving up the game at U16's to concentrate on

his also undoubtedly great rugby abilities. We are very proud to have had Ted among our ranks and we are just as equally delighted that he has excelled at his chosen sport. Well done Ted!

Finally, it seems that the matter of abusing match officials is not as symptomatic a 'grassroots' problem, as many folk would

seem to think! I read recently that a well-known former Premier League referee, Mark Clattenburg (bottom left) quit officiating in this country because of the abuse he was getting from some of the top players and managers in the English game. He claimed

it got so bad that he often turned to drink and upon quitting eventually moved to live and work abroad.

It is a sad state of affairs that a former highly respected and top match official of our game has seen his career in this country finish in such circumstances. I can only hope that someone in the

FA is noting this and dealing with matters accordingly because if it was a grassroots play-er/manager/team dishing out abuse then no doubt such would quite rightly not be involved in the game for too long! Perhaps the professionals should look at the volunteers for some inspiration in this respect? Thankfully, for all the football we play at L&BBFC, we rarely come across such mat-

ters and long may that continue!

FIND OUT WHERE WE FINISHED IN THE…

The weather played its part in dragging out the 2017/18 season with fixtures running through almost up until the end of May for some of our sides. This season we have again experienced the full range of emo-tions with teams involved in battles at the top, at the bottom, and in-between, and rather pleasingly… all

club teams concluded their full fixture programmes!

Because of FA guidelines, we are only able to show tables for teams from age U12's and upwards, who are permitted to play in competitive league formats. Where did your squad finish…

In what was their first season in the AEFL having switched from the MFJFL, the L&BBFC U12's City had

a great debut season, finishing in a highly commendable third place in Pool C. Some impressive results were accrued along the way, but perhaps their finest came courtesy of a hard earned 0-0 draw against eventual

champions, Droitwich Warriors FC!

After leading the pack for the most part early on in the season with a 100% record after their first nine games, the U12's Hibernian side, who were predominantly represented by players of

U11's age, found the going much tougher and in the end had to settle for a very respectable 4th place finish. Of their fixtures, a notable 0-0 draw against unbeaten league champions, Nunnery Wood Colts Condors FC,

proved the pick of the bunch having lost to the Condors in their previous league fixture (4-0) and also in their league cup final encounter (3-1).

Last season's unbeaten AEFL U12's Pool C winners, the L&BBFC U13's Alexandra, found promotion by the AEFL to Pool A this season somewhat harsh having skipped Pool B. However, despite landing the 'wooden spoon' this time round, the Alex did manage a creditable 4-2 victory against fellow strugglers Alcester

Town FC to record their only points of a very tough campaign.

The MJPL is a 'development' league and as such does not run with the more traditional approach to fix-tures and divisions as is the case with the MFJFL and the AEFL. With 53 teams registered this season

within the MJPL at U14's age being recorded as one league, our L&BBFC U14's Orient only came up against 19 other sides over the season, and the above summary table is a glimpse of the final table involving just

the sides that the O's encountered along the way.

The Orient finished in 14th place (but overall 37th out of the 53) having another relatively even time of things. Some strong sides featured, but of their fixtures, two local derbies ensued. A 1-1 draw against Worcester based Nunnery

Wood Colts Ospreys FC saw the Badgers notch a point. However, a fine performance against Worcestershire neighbours, Bromsgrove Sporting Youth FC saw the O's record an impressive 5-1 victory. That said, of their 7 wins for the season,

perhaps the outstanding result of their campaign was their first match of the season at home to eventual table toppers, YMD Binley Woods FC, that saw the Orient narrowly beat their Coventry based visitors 2-1!

In the AEFL U14's Pool B our Palace and Borough sides had two contrasting seasons. The recently re-

vived Palace squad faired the better over the course of the season which saw them eventually settle in a very creditable 4th place. However, with 17 points eventually separating the two sides, the Borough

found the going a bit more of a challenge but nonetheless ended their campaign in a comfortable mid-table 8th spot.

Of their head to head encounters in the league, the club bragging rights fell the way of the Borough courtesy of the odd goal in 7. Borough won 3-1 at home to Palace in the first meeting, but in the return game, Palace only just about nudged

it, 2-1!

* Adjustment Made by MFJFL

Due to the late withdrawal of several teams from this Division, the MFJFL opted to use the sys-tem of fixtures akin to that of the Scottish leagues in that each side would play each other four

times instead of the more traditional twice.

Following an impressive string of results over the course of the season, our U16's County squad finished the campaign as the only club side to land league honours and in doing so, the side also became the first L&BBFC U16's side to so! Mean-while, the newly formed U16's Town squad were also pitted in Division Two and found the league more of challenge but

nonetheless just missed out on second spot by three points to finish in a very creditable 4th place.

On their way to landing the title, the County also took the clubs U16's bragging rights having won three of the head to head encounters against their Town club mates, 7-3, 5-0, 11-2. The fourth fixture was chalked off as a draw by the MFJFL as the game could not be played prior to the season's end. Neither side were awarded any points for this.

Of the derby fixtures played, the second encounter of the season was perhaps the more memorable as the game was

hosted at Malvern Town FC's HDAnywhere Community Stadium in front of around 60 or so spectators, as part of formal-ising recently agreed links between L&BBFC and Malvern Town FC.

Editor's Footnote… L&BBFC would like to thank the many volunteers, parents, sponsors, benefactors, officials, leagues, and WFA for their combined efforts in helping L&BBFC ensure that our members were able to learn, play, and enjoy their football during

this very busy campaign…

L&BBFC SPARTAK ARE CROWLE TOURNAMENT…

Having successfully completed their MFJFL programme of fixtures last month,

the L&BBFC U9's Spartak took part in their first tournament of the summer on Sunday

the 20th May, 2018 hosted by Crowle Searchers FC…

With a total of 12 teams at U9’s level taking part,

competition was good. Sponsored by Startin Honda, Spartak began real-ly well in their pool of six, winning their first four matches then battling out a closely contested draw against a tough Bidford Juniors FC, 2-2… little did folk know then that these two sides would meet again later on in the competition!

After their five group games the young Badgers side had quali-fied for the knockout section

and were in with a strong chance of winning the Tourna-

ment's U9's Shield.

Having played really well throughout their early fixtures, in the semi-final the Spartak

continued their impressive form, winning 1-0. The result meant that the side had reached their first ever final, whereupon they found themselves up against a group rivals Bidford Juniors FC for the second time in this tour-

nament!

This time round the Badgers seemed to step up a gear, playing some fantastic football, showing real effort and de-termination along with some great skill. Although Spartak dominated matters throughout the game, at full time it

was still goal-less. This meant that a further period of extra-time ensued.

However, the scores continued to remain even and with a dreaded penalty shoot-out looming, the Badgers got the breakthrough they deserved with around 30 seconds of play left on the clock. It took a very special goal to win what

was a testing tournament and young Spartak starlet, George Davies duly obliged scoring the winner from almost the half way line… what a moment… what drama… and what a goal!

After their heroics, Team Coach, Matt Waller claimed, 'it was a fantastic day out and a wonderful effort from all the

boys throughout the tournament. I was really impressed by the whole side. It was one of the hottest days of the year so far and despite plenty to drink, the boys played seven games on the day, and given there were under-

standably some tired legs out there, they didn’t give up! With three more events lined up over the summer we can only hope that Spartak keep up their efforts and reap their rewards!'

The feature photo above shows the victorious Spartak team lining up along with the Tournament Shield following

their hard earned win against Bidford Juniors FC in the final, and was submitted by Team Coach, Matt Waller along with this feature.

Editor's footnote… Well done Spartak on a great tournament performance. Our thanks go to Matt Waller for taking the time to share this with us. If any other club sides have any features & photos they wish to share, please email us accordingly…

L&BBFC U11's SAINTS VISIT…

In what was another great football experience for

L&BBFC players to remember, on Sunday 27th May, 2018 the U11's Saints team attended the

Precision Pass Tour & Tour-nament held at St Andrews Stadium, the home of FA

Championship side, Birming-ham City FC…

What made this particular event all the more exciting was that the games were actually

played on the St Andrews pitch, against teams from across the country that in turn provided for a competitive and memorable day for the players, coaches and families alike.

In addition, the boys were treated to a tour of the ground as well as a display and im-

promptu personal training session with You Tube sensation and 'football freestyl-er', Daniel Cutting, which really made their

day.

All in all a fantastic experience was had by

everyone, and will be remembered as much for the football being played as for

the fun that was had with friends.

Our feature photos show the U11's Saints posing for the paparazzi in front of the home end goal at St Andrews (top right).

Football Freestyler, Daniel Cutting (back row) took a moment between his displays

to pose with our youngsters (centre).

To cap off a great

day, the Saints were each awarded a

medal for their partic-ipation and are

shown on the player podium (below).

Our thanks go to

Team Coach, Alex Warner for the fea-

ture and photo's herein.
