The Pastor’s Corner
At Jesus' baptism, Luke uses a distinctive phrase to refer to the arrival of the Holy Spirit. As the Spirit descends upon Jesus, Luke describes the Spirit's arrival as being "in bodily form like a dove". The baptism of Jesus takes on extraordi-nary significance in our encounter with the Holy Trinity. Here, with the Spirit appearing tangibly, and then with the Father's voice being heard from heaven, we have for the first time all three persons of the Trinity being tangibly mani-fested. The birth of Jesus marked an astonishing transition in the human experience as the fullness of divinity was revealed as a human being. God, in the person of God the Son, could be seen and touched. Now, at the moment of Jesus' bap-tism, he is revealed to us with the Father and the Spirit. Jesus' arrival, and even more so in his public ministry, reveals God's presence in our world and in our lives. Baptism is a mystery that each of us share in: as Jesus was baptized, so also we are baptized into him. Recognizing that this is the moment of God's revelation in his fullness, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we can look to how God is being manifested in our lives. Reconnecting with our own baptism, something as simple as blessing ourselves with Holy Wa-ter, or as profound as going to confession, can allow that divine stamp to be more fully manifested in our experi-ence. Jesus' baptism wasn’t intended to reveal the three persons of the Trinity merely for them to fade away in obscu-rity: they are revealed to transform our lives, and allow us to become the bodily revelation of the presence of God in this world today.

Are You an Adult that is Not Confirmed? St. Isidore's offers Confirmation preparation classes for adults
(out of high school). This series of Adult Confirmation clas-
ses, as set forth by the diocese, is only for adults who:
1) Are baptized Catholic and have received First Communion
2) Go to Mass on Sundays (3rd Commandment)
3) Go to Confession at least 1 time a year
4) If married, must be married in the Church
5) Cannot be cohabitating
Classes are held on Saturday mornings beginning March 16 at
9:00-10:30 am. Registration forms can be picked up at the
Church Office or on the St. Isidore website.
RCIA If you are an adult Catholic in need of the Sacrament of Confirma-tion, St. Isidore's provides Confirmation preparation classes. Adult Confirmation classes in English begin March 16th. Eligibility infor-mation can be found in the bulletin. Registration forms can be picked up in the Church Office or visit the Church website for more information.

como bendecirnos con agua bendita, o tan profundos como ir a confesión, puede permitir que ese sello divino que se manifieste
más plenamente en nuestra experiencia. El bautismo de Jesús no fue intencionado para revelar las tres personas de la Trinidad
simplemente para que desaparecerán en la oscuridad: Fueron reveladas para transformar nuestras vidas y permitirnos llegar a ser

The 15th annual West Coast Walk for Life in San Francisco will be Saturday, January 26th. Come join us and experience the blessing of being among thousands taking a stand for LIFE. ANNUAL PRO-LIFE BABY SHOWER 2019 On January 26th & 27th, at all Masses, we will have our annual “Baby Shower” to support our local Pregnancy Resource Center and Medical Clinic, “A Woman’s Friend”. They provide counseling and assistance for women, as well as layettes and items for their babies. Please bring a baby gift or donation, and place it in the crib inside the Church entrance. Items especially needed are: newborn size: gowns, 3/6 mo onesies & outfits (boy & girl) 3/6 & 6/9 mo sleepers, sox, booties, & bibs. Also needed are receiving blankets, knitted, crocheted, quilted blankets and items such as lotion, shampoo, powder, bottles, pacifiers, teething toys, diapers (size newborn-size one), formula, towels & washcloths. Sutter Buttes Unbound Prayer Team St. Isidore’s host a prayer team for parishioners needing spir-itual healing. The process is based on the book Unbound (available in the parish office) and is sponsored by the Sacra-mento Diocese. St. Isidore is hosting a diocesan orientation Saturday, January 19 in Bishop Quinn Hall in English from 9am-11am and in Spanish from 11:30-1:30pm. All are welcome to attend and learn more about Un-bound. Those interested in joining the Sutter Butte Unbound Ministry Team are encouraged to attend the orientation. DIVINE MERCY The Divine Mercy Group will be meeting on the 3rd Monday of the month, Jan 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall Conference Room. We pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet together. CAMP FIRE STUDENT FUND We are opening our schools to students from Butte County schools who have been displaced by the Camp Fire. We will offer any open desks we have to these students tuition-free for the remainder the 2018-19 academic year. We would be appreciative if you would join us in sponsoring these students with a donation of any amount. Though it is difficult to project an exact need, we will use funds for such things as uniforms, school materials, hot lunches, field trips, and other expenses associated with educating a child, as well as material and tuition relief for our currently enrolled school families in need. Any surplus will be used for future support for these affected families and Catholic schools of the region. CAMP FIRE FONDO ESTUDIANTIL
Estamos abriendo nuestras escuelas a los estudiantes de las escuelas del Condado de Butte que han sido desplazados por el Camp Fire. Ofrecemos cualquier escritorio disponible y matriculación gratis por el resto del año 2018-19 a estos estudiantes. CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK There will be no second collection for the school this week-
end. Our monthly collection will take place on January 27th
as we celebrate our Annual Catholic Schools Week. We will
be hosting an Open House and Science Fair that Sunday from
10am-12pm. All are welcome! Please stop by and see how
your financial support enriches the lives of our students. Be-
sides the Science Fair we will also be showcasing our Saint
dolls, mission and state projects, historical person projects and
decade reports.

de enseñanza y de servicio. Pronto comenzaría a llamar a otros a se-
guirlo.
Pedro fue el primero que Jesús llamó. En la segunda lecturade
hoy anuncia el centro del mensaje: “la paz que traería Jesucristo, el
Señor de todos”. Pedro fue llamado, y tú y yo somos llamados a lle-
var el mensaje y cumplir la palabra de Dios.

CALLED TO SERVE For many weeks now, we have been celebrating the appearance
of the divine presence in human form. As a child, he came to Mary
and Joseph, was seen by the shepherds, and then by some wandering
magi from the East. Today we celebrate another showing, later in
time, to a group gathered at the Jordan River.
John hesitated to baptize Jesus, whom he recognized as “one
mightier than I.” But he did as Jesus asked, and the “Holy Spirit de-
scended” and heaven’s voice spoke to Jesus, “You are my beloved
Son.” Jesus was beginning his public life of teaching and service.
Soon he would start calling others to join him.
Peter was one of the first to be called by Jesus. In today’s second
reading, he announces the heart of the message, “peace through Jesus
Christ, who is Lord of all.” Peter was called, and you and I are called
to spread that message and to serve God’s word.
