What is Evernote?


Evernote is a cloud based note

taking and archiving software


that you can use on your

computer, mobile or via web.


A note can be a piece of

formatted text,


a full webpage or webpage

excerpt, a photograph,


a voice memo, or a

handwritten ink note.


To access Evernote, open up a

browser.


For this presentation, we will use

Mozilla Firefox.


Type in www.evernote.com here.


This page will come up.


Click here to create an account.


Key in your email address here.


Your password here.


Click Sign Up .


This window will come up.


Create a password here.


Click Create Account.


This window will appear.


If you want to download Evernote, just click here.


However, if you want to continue via web, click here.


For this presentation, well use

Evernote via web.


The main window for Evernote will come up.


We can use Notebooks and Tags to organize information.


Notebooks: Think of notebooks

like a container that holds

notes.


Your notes can only be


in one notebook at a time.


Tags: Think of tags like sticky

notes that you can


stick onto your notes to easily

find them.


You can have as many tags


on each note as you would like.


You will see First Notebook by default


We can rename this based on


how we would like to organize

our notes.


Lets rename it by clicking here.


Click Rename.


Type in a Notebook Name here.


Click Save.


To create a new notebook, click this small arrow.


Click here.


Type a name for your notebook here.


Click Save.


Lets update this new notebook

to be the default notebook.


Click here.


Then click here.


Put a check on this box.


Click Save.


Now, the folder is set to receive all created notes.


Lets set up our main category tags now. Click here.


Click New Tag.


Type the name here.


Click Save.


You will now see the tag in here.


Lets add 2 more main tags. Click here.


Type the name here.


Click Save.


Click again here.


Type in a name here.


Click Save.


All other tags that will be

subcategories should be

created


the same way that main tags

were created.


For instance, well create Non-

Active Personal Projects

subcategory.


Click here.


Type in the name here.


Click Save.


Drag this subcategory to main Personal category.


It should look like this now.


Lets set up a Project Tag. Click here.


Type in the name of the project tag.


Click Save.


Drag the new project tag here.


It should look like this right now.


Remember that you can set up

the number


of your notebooks and tags

depending on your need.


Lets create a new note. Click here.


Type in the title here.


Key in the content here.


Key in the tag here.


To key in the Url or website

address that is


associated with the note,click Info.


Type in the URL here.


Do note that Evernote will save the changes automatically.


If you will check your tags under

Books to Read,


You will see the note here.


Now we can move the note

from Action Pending


to Processed notebook as it is

already tagged.


Click the dropdown arrow here.


Select Processed.


Its now moved to Processed notebook.


You will see the notes Url here.


Once you click it, it will display the source website.


Do note that you can also set a

reminder


for each note that you create. Click here.


A notification will appear.


You may also share the note via

different


social media channels. Click here.


Lets say we want to share via email. Click here.


Key in the recipient email address here.


Key in the message here.


Click here to send to the addressee.

You have to make your own condensed notes. You learn from MAKING them. A lot of

thinking goes into deciding what to include

and exclude. You develop your own system

of abbreviations and memory methods for
