FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK Dear Blossom Hill Families:

Thank you for attending our first round of Parent/Teacher Conferences for the 2017-18 school year. The strong Home/School partnership forged throughout our learning community is a key factor in supporting our students’ happiness, social/emotional growth, and academic success.

The faculty and I would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for the delicious morning snacks, beverages, and lunches provided last week. The amazing trio of Jean Choi, Julie Reynolds, and Joyce Weideling combined their talents to coordinate this thoughtful BH tradition, transforming the staff lounge into a Superheroes Headquarters with Wonder Woman, Spider Man, a decorative wall that included personalized messages to staff, tablecloths with thematic centerpieces, and all kinds of delicious culinary treats.

Thank you to the following parents and families who went above and beyond in their generous contributions to support staff during conference week: Mehrdad Alipour, Shadi Allen, Ritu Alvares, Pia Andersson, Pari Ardakani, Meghan Bakota, Karrie Bertsch, Julie Bettinger, Pallavi Bhargava, Padma Bhooma, Elke Billingsley, Debbie Bluestone, Yasmin Bomann, Julie Bonomi, Lisa & Scott Borland, Amy Brasseur, Heidi Brockmann, Shannon Bruga-Amaral, Campbell Family, Peggy Cannan, Mia Carlisle, Amanda Caruso, Mary Cassidy, Julia Chan, Marina Chang, Satya Chelamkuri Toram, Vivian Chen, Hana Chen, Sean Chen, Aruna Chinnakotla, Brenda Chiu, Andra Cismaru, Lee Codding, Katherine Cole, Victoria Contreras, Toni Conway, Renee Crites, Lisa Cross, Tova Davis, Szilvia Decoin, Javier del Prado, Viktor Despotovic, Jodi Distad, Chelsea Doerger, Nicole Duke, Turkan Eke, Carrie Endweiss, Ting Engelman, Allison Engles, Nika Esfahani, Karen Fan, Ellen Feichtmeir, Andrew Ferguson, Gina Fiorentino Boyd, Ilse Fletcher, Kataneh Friberg, Shelley Gierat, Zoe Golden, Amy Gregor, Gigi Harrell, Yumi Hiroshima, Jian Hu, Daniela Ielceanu, Sabin Ielceanu, Jacqueline Jacques, Stefanie Johnston, Widya Junus, Kristen Kaefer, Richa Kamal, Suejin Kim, Jung Kim, Gemma Krug, Joe Kwong, Kathy Kwong, Kelly Langner, Tanya Lattner, Ling Law, Brenda Lee, Janice Lee, Cat Leitch, Chang Li, Ying Liang, Claudia Lin, Joanne Long, Marlo Lyons, Priti Malhotra, Katie Manning, Sonya Margolis, Kristine Maus, Olga Mavrody, May McFerran, Melissa Miller, Gretchen Moore, Sonya Moore-Wells, Malea Mordaunt, Cara Moretti, Tara Moseley, Ayhan Mutlu, Gauri Nadkarni, Patricia Niemeyer, The Nylands, Julie O'Brien, Rachel Pandipati, Bonnie Pang, Jennifer Pang, Pam Parisi, Rachel Parrinello, Seema Patel, Danielle Peake, Kristi Pearce-Percy, Astrid Radityo, April Reynolds, Jessica Richter, Maryse Rigaud, Kari Robinson, Zoe Ruelas, Michelle Ruvane, Jennifer Saban, Jennifer Shapiro, Francine Shore, Kari-Ann Sitko, Patricia Smith, Taphanie Tai, Jeannine Torrecillas, Jason Wang, Aniket Warty, Kathleen Willey, Scott Withrow, Julia Wong, Alvin Wu, Caleb Wu, Cindy Yang, Donna Yasay, Ning Ye, Ling Yi, Jimmy Yip, Anita Young, Caroline Zamansky, Zeid Family, Sally Zeman, and Christi Zenteno.

Book Fair Gift Certificates – ORDER ONLINE BY DECEMBER 1!

Use this link to order gift certificates.

Gift certificates can be purchased for the amount of $10 or more and will be delivered to your student’s classroom next Monday before the Book Fair. Gift Certificates are a safe way for your child to purchase books without the risk of bringing and possibly losing cash. They also make a great gift for friends and your favorite teachers! Please note that Kindergarten classes are not allowed to make purchases without a parent so gift certificates don’t apply for them.

Please direct any questions you may have to our Book Fair Co-Chairs at [email protected].

BOOK DRIVE FOR FIRE VICTIMS Blossom Hill School will be holding a book drive from November 27 - December 1. We will be collecting used books for all ages and distributing them to communities affected by the fires. Books can be dropped off in your child’s classroom or the library.

HEAD LICE Cases of head lice are being reported and discovered daily. This is an expected occurrence 3-4 weeks after Halloween, Thanksgiving, December recess, February recess and Spring break.

Head lice are spread by direct contact, such as sharing of brushes, combs, hair ties, helmets, caps, hats, scarves. They are also spread easily at sleepovers, camps and other sharing events.

Check your child’s head for evidence for head lice often and throughout the school year.

H&SC MEMBER MEETING December 13 at 8:15 am

Please join us for some Kindergarten entertainment, breakfast treats, and Mrs. Reynolds’ school report.
