5 reasons to visit
The Great Classics
HUNGARY
culture 1. Buda and Pest: two faces of the same coin
One of the most important and beautiful place of
Hungary is Budapest, the capital. An interesting
peculiarity of this city is the bridge that connects
Buda and Pest, the two part of the city separated
by the Danube River. But Budapest has much
more to offer: the historic Terms, Buda Castle, the
Chain Bridge, Gellért Hill, Fishermen’s Bastion,
the Parliament and Mathias Church…just to name
few!
2. Music: the heart of Hungary
Hungary is also famous for its lively music, known
all around the world. Many people considered
Hungary as the heart of the musicality, thanks to
the great composer and pianist Franz Liszt, but
also to the others musicians as Béla Bartok and
Zoltan Kodaly.
3. The Blue Danube
The Blue Danube and its scenic stops in Visegrád
and Esztergom, is a journey not to be missed!
Visegrád is a small castle town on the right bank
of the Danube, where you can re-live the middle
ages and enjoy the breathtaking panorama of the
Danube valley. At Esztergom you can visit the
largest cathedral in Hungary which is also the
burial place of the country's most famous
cardinals. And don’t forget a glance across the
river to enjoy the view over Slovakia.
4. The Statue of Liberty…in Hungary!
Do you think that the Statue of Liberty was only in
the USA? Also Hungary has its own Statue of
Liberty! You can admire it at Gellert Hill and it’s
one of the symbols of Hungary and Budapest: a
woman holding in her hand a leaf of palm, the
universal a symbol of liberty. From above the hills
you can admire a stunning view of the Real
Palace, Buda and Pest!
5. The sounds of nature: Balaton Lake
Known locally as the “Hungarian Sea,” Lake
Balaton is the largest lake in Central Europe and
the 2nd most popular tourist destination in
Hungary, after Budapest. Balton Lake is the
perfect place for those who want to relax
surrounded by the nature or love sail and
windsurf. Also the culture lovers can find
interesting things to do, thanks to the nearby
Ceramic factory and the Benedictine Abbey of
Tihany village.
