Last year, my farrier told me that my 21-year-old Quarterhorse, Merlin, had a hard time keeping his hind legs up whengetting his feet trimmed. Dear Springtime:
My Quarter/Fox Trotter mare, Sunny, foundered about 3 years ago.
I have fought with her feet constantly. Last year, the right front
cracked, and I had lost my farrier. Her feet went without
attention for almost 3 months as I located a farrier who had

Two years ago when we purchased my mare, Roanie, she was miserable
with huge sores on her belly, and the hair on the top of her tail was
gone from the horrible itching. Roanie has a bad allergic reaction to the

Dear Springtime:
For the last several years, I have been using

SUPER CREEPYImagine a type of spider thatcraves human blood and willprobably bite you and evenyour pets at some point inyour life. Ticks are classifiedas arachnids. Yep, that’s right– ticks are part of the samefamily as spiders.
SUPER STALKERSMost hard-shelled ticks stalk theirprey on well worn pathways (e.g.,deer paths). Contrary to popularbelief, ticks don’t typically drop onprey from overhead trees. Instead,they find a vantage point, like ablade of tall grass, hold tightly onto it with their third and fourthpair of legs, and then stretch outtheir first pair of legs to snag anunlucky victim passing by.
SUPER SENSESThe same pair of legs they use to latchonto prey are equipped with super senses to detect their next meal. I work in my local animal rescue as a foster coordina-tor, so working with sick puppies is nothing out of thenorm for me. After my dog, Annie, had passed away, I was determined that no new
dog would enter my life again (I am 72 years old). Then, one day I
discovered that my neighbor's 11-year-old chocolate Lab/Rottie cross,
"Porkchop," had taken up residence in one of my sheds. Eventually I
discovered that Porkchop's owner was fine with that decision, despite
the fact that Porkchop has the sweetest temperament ever.
Porkchop was in very poor shape. He scratched constantly. He had a
major case of dandruff, several bald patches, and smelled so bad I was
reluctant to even touch him.
I began feeding him a good quality dog food and did research on what
might be causing his skin condition. After a look at your catalog, I
immediately ordered Skin & Coat Oil for Porkchop. I still had two
jars of Longevity from Annie, so I started Porkchop on that as well.
It has been about a month, and Porkchop is a different dog. His (now) lovely coat is obvious, and he now hasthat good dog smell. His dandruff is gone, and his bald spots no longer look inflamed, and are filling in. Hiscolor has deepened to a dark brown, and all of the light brown dry areas have disappeared. He greets me inthe morning with leaps and jumps as if he were a young dog.

The dog that started it all...Springtime Supplements began with one man’s heroic effort to save his dog. The dog pictured on every jar of Fresh Factors (see page 54) is an Akita named Buddha, whobelonged to our founder, Dennis Hampt. When he was a puppy, Buddha suffered a broken leg, which deteriorated as he matured. By the age of seven, Buddha had reached the point where two different vets recommended that he be put down.
Dennis loved Buddha dearly, and he was not willing to give up without a fight.
So Dennis dedicated himself to exhaustive research and experimentation with natural foods. It didn’t take long before he began to see results. Not only did Buddha recover, but he regained thepower and strength that he had in his prime. Buddha would go on to live another five active years.
That discovery became the foundation of Springtime Supplements and our most popular product: Fresh Factors.
