Our Mission

What started as a casual conversation between two friends has quickly transformed into a vision for health and the environment that today has unlimited reach and potential.

Bob Kafato, an established entrepreneur, already founded three successful companies including LabX, a premier online auction company, and Solar Roofing Systems, which pioneered and patented the world’s first Building Integrated Photovoltaic roofing application. Bob was also employed as a biologist, and with a strong background in chemistry, worked in the food and drug regulation sector. All of these factors inspired him to search for healthier alternatives that would be widely accepted by the consumer.

George Kontos worked in the digital media industry and soon realized that it wasn’t his passion. His desire to apply his experiences to a business that could truly make a difference quickly moved to the forefront.

They realized that it was time to make a difference...

A discussion about the future of the planet and their need to create a lasting legacy became the impetus for the creation of OnlyGreen.

Norman Dodd, a seasoned manager with a strong corporate background, was recruited to help build OnlyGreen. As co-founder and President of Solar Roofing Systems, he liked the fact that renewable energy was clean, nonpolluting and clearly the way of the future.

When the solar company was sold in 2006, he became the President of OnlyGreen. A motivating factor in Norman’s move to the world of OnlyGreen was a deep personal tragedy. After a lengthy battle, his wife Deborah passed away from breast cancer. While cancer is still not fully understood, the use of chemicals in the environment and in the products that are consumed every day are clearly detrimental to the health of people and our planet.

The green movement is one that is quickly evolving, leaving most of us, as consumers, unsure of where to begin.

OnlyGreen was created in order to provide consumers with a credible source for purchasing a wide range of products that are environmentally friendly, from the manufacturing process through to packaging, distribution and disposal.

After researching a number of products, we realized that there are many companies that claim to be green, but in fact are not. At OnlyGreen, we have developed a Product Selection Criteria in order to research, evaluate and determine which products to offer and ensure they are as eco-friendly as possible.

We chose the Direct Selling business model in order to break through the “greenwashing” clutter and to properly educate consumers on the benefits of living a toxic-free lifestyle.

Today, our products are accessible from any location through the Internet, and promoted by our talented team of independent EcoAdvisors who have developed their own home based businesses and promote a healthier lifestyle and cleaner environment.

Most health and beauty products, which are used in direct contact with the customer’s body, contain high concentrations of harmful synthetic chemicals. These chemicals can be absorbed by the skin or get washed down the drain and into our water system.

Since we are the manufacturer of our health and beauty care products, we know that they are void of any harmful synthetic chemicals, are 100% safe and natural and are of the highest quality.

Our VADA and Halsa product lines are made from all natural and organic ingredients, and are free of sodium lauryl sulphates, parabens or petrochemicals. We also use our own purified water to ensure consistency. All of our products are 100% biodegradable and handmade and hand poured in small batches. Knowing that our products are of the highest quality and are safe for the entire family, you can relax with peace of mind.

We are also proud supporters of the Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database, which categorizes and rates the safety of products based on ingredients used. Safety ratings are made available online for consumers to reference.

In a study sponsored by EWG.org, five random women all tested positive for 35-60% percent of the 75 chemicals on the search list. They also each had a high body burden of at least one controversial chemical whose lack of regulation and widespread presence in American life is fuelling debate over reform of the nation’s toxic chemical policies.

Master Your Brushes!

Choose a large soft brush. Apply a small amount of powder onto the brush. Starting from the forehead, sweep the powder in smooth, downward strokes. Apply to the cheeks, chin, nose and neck in the same way, making sure that all areas have been well blended. Apply your powder after your foundation and before your eye makeup. When using mineral foundation with mature skin, use very little and be sure to buff the powders gently into your skin. For acne-prone skin, reach complete coverage using layers and moisturize your skin first with our VADA Clarifying Spritzer (pg.11) to allow the minerals to provide a creamy, blended finish.

A baby’s skin is soft and delicate. Extra care should be taken to ensure that chemical free products are used. Select products that are made with certified organic ingredients and are specially formulated to be very gentle.

dIeThAnolAMIne (deA), TrIeThAnolAMIne (TeA)2. — Often used in cosmetics as emulsifiers and/or foaming agents. They can cause allergic reactions, eye irritation and dryness of hair and skin. DEA and TEA are “amines” (ammonia compounds) and can form cancer-causing nitrosamines when they come in contact with nitrates. Toxic if absorbed into the body over a long period of time.

dIAzolIdInyl ureA, IMIdAzolIdInyl ureA3. — These are the most commonly used preservatives for skin care products. The American Academy of Dermatology has found them to be a primary cause of contact dermatitis. Both these chemicals release formaldehyde, which can be toxic.

SodIuM lAuryl/lAureTh SulfATe4. — A cheap, harsh detergent used in shampoos for its cleansing and foam-building properties. Often derived from petroleum, it is frequently disguised in pseudo-natural cosmetics with the phrase “comes from coconuts.” It causes eye irritation, scalp scurf similar to dandruff, skin rashes and other allergic reactions.

PeTrolATuM5. — Also known as petroleum jelly, this mineral oil derivative is used for its emollient properties in cosmetics and chosen often because of its cheap cost. It has no nutrient value for the skin and can interfere with the body’s own natural moisturizing mechanism, leading to dryness and chapping, the same conditions it often claims to alleviate.

ProPylene GlyCol6. — Ideally this is a vegetable glycerine mixed with grain alcohol, both of which are natural. Usually it is a synthetic petrochemical mix used as a humectant. It has been known to cause allergic reactions, hives and eczema. Watch for PEG (polyethylene glycol) or PPG (polypropylene glycol) on labels, as these are related synthetics.

PVP/VA CoPolyMer7. — A petroleum-derived chemical used in hairsprays, styling aids and other cosmetics. It can be considered toxic, since inhaled particles can damage the lungs of sensitive persons.

STeArAlkonIuM ChlorIde8. — A chemical compound used in hair conditioners and creams. Developed by the fabric industry as a fabric softener, it is a lot cheaper and easier to use in hair conditioning formulas than proteins or herbals, which are beneficial to the hair. Causes allergic reactions. Toxic.

SynTheTIC ColorS9. — Used strictly for the appearance of cosmetics, synthetic colors, along with synthetic hair dyes, should be avoided at all costs. They will be labelled as FD&C or D&C, followed by a color and a number. Example: FD&C Red No. 6 / D&C Green No. 6. Many synthetic colors can be carcinogenic. If a cosmetic contains them, don’t use it.

SynTheTIC frAGrAnCeS10. — The synthetic fragrances used in cosmetics can have as many as 200 ingredients. There is no way to know what the chemicals are, since on the label it will simply read “fragrance.” Some problems caused by these chemicals include headaches, dizziness, rash, hyperpigmentation, violent coughing, vomiting, skin irritation, etc.
