TBM Official PlanApproval has been given for

the Town of The Blue Mountains updated Official Plan by Grey County.

However, a decision has been withheld on the Short Term Accommodation (STA) section 82.5 of the Plan. The deferred decision will give the Town the ability to consider how the new STA policies would work with a proposed new Comprehensive Zoning By-law which is to be drafted in the near future.

The Town’s current planning policies respecting Short Term Accommodation units resulted from a lengthy public process, Council consideration, and Ontario Municipal Board approval. The current STA official plan policies and zoning by-law provisions, which were passed concurrently, are intended to be carried forward into the new Town Official Plan and new Comprehensive Zoning By-Law without any substantive alteration to ensure that the new Comprehensive Zoning By-Law, once drafted, properly maintains that ’status quo’ intention and implements the new Official Plan policies respecting STAs, the Town has requested and the County has agreed to defer making any decision on section B.2.5 of the new Official Plan at this time.

Active Transportation Plan Idea Bombing! Beaver Valley Community Centre, Fri. July 8, 5-8pm

If you want to see better plans for transportation, cycling and walking in your community, join us! The Town of The Blue Mountains is undertaking a project to develop an Active Transportation Plan.

The intent is to make our community a great place where walking and cycling are easy and convenient for all ages. To assist with the Project we have partnered with healthy community design and planning expert Robert Voigt RPP, MCIP (Cambium Inc) and on July 8th, we will be hosting our first meeting on the project; an “Idea Bombing” event at the Beaver Valley Community Centre, 5:00 to 8:00pm.

An Idea Bombing is a creative community brainstorming event focused on highlighting, fostering and contributing to a successful future. It is specifically designed to be appealing to all. The format is dynamic, energizing, engaging, and entertaining. Idea Bombing is more than a meeting format. Idea Bombing is an event.

At each event, a series of short talks help explores the evening’s theme and covers it from different perspectives. Spaces are provided at the event for people to add their ideas around the topic and by doing so participate in the ‘idea bombing’ activity. These spaces and activities are specifically designed for the subject at hand and gathering various kinds of meaningful information from the participants. These events always feature music, and local food to help set the festive tone for the discussions. This event will also include special guest speaker Dan Burden from Blue Zones. Dan is and internationally renowned active transportation and healthy

community expert who will add significant insights to our project. We hope you will be able to join us on July 8th, and welcome you to invite your friends and associates to the event and to participate throughout the Project.

Preparing ClarksburgServicing for Funding

The lack of municipal water and sanitary servicing in Clarksburg has a substantial impact on the personal, environmental, economic and cultural health of the community.

Since servicing will not happen without upper governmental funding, and such funding will only be available to the Town when a need and solution is demonstrated, Town Staff is recommending that Council consider funding during the development of the 2017 Capital Budget to begin a needs assessment.
