“What's in a name? that which we call a rose

By any other name would smell as sweet…”

Page 2: The Boulevard Press | February 2013

The ancient Greeks and Romans identified the rose with the goddess of love, Aphrodite (Greek name) and

Venus (Roman name).

In Rome a wild rose would be placed on the door of a room where secret or confidential matters were dis-

cussed. The phrase sub rosa, or "under the rose", means to keep a secret — derived from this ancient Ro-

man practice.

Today, the rose is the symbol of love and romance. Valentine’s Day 2012 it is estimated that 193 million

roses were sold to celebrate this holiday.

HOT MONTH BREAKFAST

Breakfast (literally meaning to break the fasting period of the prior night;

in Old English the term was morgenmete meaning "morning meal")

is the first meal taken after rising from a night's sleep, most often eaten in the early

morning before undertaking the day's work. Among English speakers, "breakfast" can be

used to refer to this meal, or more commonly, to refer to a meal composed of traditional

breakfast foods (such as eggs, oatmeal and sausage) served at any time of day.

All the world’s a stage, including Arden Park, where Rosalind flees in a desperate attempt to save her life after a coup deposes her father. Homeless and in disguise, she wanders through the urban wilderness, encountering a wacky assortment of colorful vagabonds and discovering love, laughter, and unexpected compassion along the

way. Happy endings abound in this modern version of one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies.
