The Holidays are quickly approaching and the school has been buzzing with activities. As this is our last news bulletin of the year, we wish you a wonderful winter holiday and a happy New Year! Please review the holiday schedule below for school closure. BPA WITHDRAWAL: If you are leaving BPA, please be sure to notify the Registrar’s office at least 2 weeks prior to departure to ensure your child’s documents are available on his/her last

day of attendance. The following steps will assist you in this process. 1) Sign in to http://oasis.gemseducation.com with your username and password. 2) Go to ’Requests.’ 3) Click on ’T/C’

request to start process. 4) Click on ’Click here’ to apply for TC (Transfer Certificate). You will receive an automatic notification. Transfer Certificates, School Reports and Medical Records

may be picked up from the Admissions Office on the student’s last day of attendance.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

NO SCHOOL: On Sunday, December 11th there will be NO SCHOOL in observance of the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) Birthday. Please note school WILL be in session Monday, December 12th.

ARABIC BOOK FAIR: Beginning Tuesday, December 13th -Thursday, December 15th, the Arabic Department will be hosting an Arabic Book Fair in the D block. Books will be available for purchase before, during and after school.

HOUSE SPIRIT DAY: On Thursday, December 15th lets celebrate our school spirit by wearing house colors! This is always a fun day for students and staff. Students can wear jeans or other appropriate non-uniform attire on bottom. However, no leggings, mini-skirts, short shorts, overly tight or ripped/torn pants please. Closed toed shoes are still required for student safety.

WWW TRIPS (Grades 5-12): BPA’s annual Week Without Walls (WWW) trips are quickly approaching. There will be a final mandatory meeting for students heading overseas on Wednesday, January 4th at 6pm. If your child is attending the local trip through Ecoventure, please note the deposit is due Thursday, December 15th. For more details on costs and trip information, please see the section titled Ecoventure in this newsletter.

NO SCHOOL: On Monday, January 2nd there will be NO SCHOOL for students for a Professional Development Day for faculty. Classes will resume Tuesday, January 3rd.

SPORTS DAY: This year’s Sports Days will be held on the following days: KG - Monday, January 9th at BPA, Grades 1-5 Tuesday, January 10th at Sports City track n’ field, Grades 6-12 - Wednesday, January 11th in Sports City. Timings will be announced after the holiday break.

ASAs and Team Sports: After school activities will begin January 15th. Some of the activities to be offered this next term include: girls run, debate, chorus, surf, film, Parkour, Lego robotics, math pride/panthers, Arabic, Dabkih (Arabic dance), Model United Nations, gaming, Floetry, writers workshop, swim development, Arabic calligraphy and much more. In sports, volleyball, cross country and track and field seasons will begin. Try-outs will be announced after the holidays. Swim squads and the Golf league will continue and cup competitions will be held for Varsity and Under 14 boys soccer. A few friendly matches for JV (Under 16s) soccer and basketball matches have also been arranged.

DENTAL CHECK-UP (KG-5): December 13-14th elementary students will receive a dental check-up through Drs. Nicholas & Asp.

BPA SWIMMING SUITS: Threads now has BPA swimming suits available at their Motor City branch. The kit is125dhs and includes a BPA swimming suit and swimming cap. Beginning next academic year, BPA swimming suits will be required as part of the BPA PE kit.

SOCKVEMBER: We are delighted to announce our Elementary students collected a total of 756 pairs of socks and shoes to help the less fortunate this year. Ms. Carter’s 3C class donated the most with a total of 99 pairs of shoes and socks. The Elementary Student Council would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to all the families who helped make this effort successful!!!

ECOVENTURE (GRADES 5-12)

Dear BPA Parents,

We are excited to present Ecoventure, the local desert adventure option for our students during the Week Without Walls. Below is all the information you need to reserve a spot for your child(ren) on this trip. We have matched three groups with age appropriate activities and outlined them below. Please review the options and decide if you wish to reserve your son/daughter’s place on this fantastic opportunity during Week without Walls that emphasizes community service, fun team building activities and gives our students unforgettable memories with their friends. Group 1 Grade 5 Jan 31st – Feb 2nd 2 nights, 3 day AED 1500 Includes 9 adventure activities. will not be covered by the Ecoventure Insurance.

Take this slip directly to the BPA Accounts Department and pay the down payment for the trip specified below and a spot will be reserved for your child. o 300 AED Non-Refundable Deposit, Balance is 1200 AED for Group 1 (5th Grade) o 400 AED Non-Refundable Deposit, Balance is 1600 AED for Group 2 (6th– 8th Grades)

o 630 AED Non-Refundable Deposit, Balance is 2500 AED for Group 3 (9th – 12th Grades)
