Between Two Worlds

The Great Collision

• The pattern is clear: if we could speed up time, it would seem as if the global economy is crashing against Earth

the way we live in the world is

killing the environment all

around us

our materialism, greed, and need

for more is having a

negative effect on the world

Most environmental deterioration is a result of systematic failures of the capitalism that we have

today and that long-term solutions must seek transformative change in the key future of modern

Capitalism.

The next couple of slides The next couple of slides are all facts about what we are all facts about what we have done to our world and have done to our world and the species that inhabit it.the species that inhabit it.

An estimated 90% of the large predator fish are gone and 75% of marine fishers are now overfished or fished to capacity

20% of the corals are gone and another 20% are severely damaged.

Losing forests

• Deforestation contributes to species loss, climate change, loss of economic value, landslides, flooding, and soil depletion.

Half of the world’s tropical and temperate forests are now gone. The rate of deforestation in the tropics continues at about an acre a second.

Losing the Land

• Thats an area the size of nebraska

Water

• The World Health Organization calculates that each year about 1.6 million children die from diseases caused by unsafe drinking water and lack of water for sanitation and hygiene.
