As a practitioner of Stage Hypnosis there is no room for error, your stage presentation has to be perfect. This will happen provided that your training has given you the skills required to create the state of waking trance and then you will require, practice and more practice. Licensing Your Hypnotic Stage Show. If you perform a hypnotic show in the UK where the general public can gain access then your show must be licensed. To licence your show you would write to the council where the event will take place and you would inform the council of the venue, the date of the performance and start time. The council will also require information on your personal background and your training received, that you are a member of a professional hypnotic organisation and a copy of your code of conduct. They will also require a copy of your proposed show and details of your insurance. This may sound a lot of information but once you have the information together it only takes a few minuets each time you apply for a licence. Provided you have been trained by a recognised Hypnotist, you are a member of an organisation with a code of conduct and you have insurance then applying for a licence and being granted permission will become easy. As a member of The British Academy of Hypnosis you will be able to use the name in your letter headings and the organisation will be able to help you licence your shows. At the time of printing the current annual registration fee to The Hypnosis Circle is £98. On completion of this course you will gain a professional certificate in stage hypnosis and The British Academy of Hypnosis has a code of conduct you need to follow and information on most councils and is happy to supply you with the information and paperwork you need to help you to licence your shows. If you intend to work at private parties or member only clubs you do not need to licence your shows however a valid certificate of association to a governing body and an insurance certificate is still required. If you are working overseas then you should contact your local authority to confirm the local licensing laws.

Once licensed the council will insist on some conditions that you must follow for your show. This may include limits on your posters advertising the event, volunteers must be aged 18 or over, no indecent or sexual acts, no catalepsy and post hypnotic suggestions must be carried out in front of the Hypnotist. The licence will clearly state all the conditions and these conditions must be adhered to at all times. Licensing shows is not much fun but it is a vital part of the job and if you wish to licence your shows quickly and easily comply with your local government acts and you will never have a problem. If you have any complications licensing your show then refer the problem back to The British Academy of Hypnosis and they will help you out.

Business Referral System. As a member of The British Academy of Hypnosis and The Hypnosis Circle you will automatically become part of the business referral system. Through recommendation and local advertising we at the academy receive requests for specialists within different fields. As a specialist in stage hypnosis you may have worked passed to you from the Hypnosis Circle. You do not have to accept any work that is offered to you but if you do we ask you to follow our code of conduct and uphold the name of our company at all times. 1. The member shall follow all codes of conduct at all times on or off stage. 2. The member will at all times uphold the good name of the organisation and never bring the organisation into disrepute. 3. The member will follow all the regulations laid down in the 1952 Hypnosis act and will always follow the local government acts and insurance requirements. 4. The member will always issue warnings at the start of each performance as stated in the training program and will always be alert to volunteers who do not heed these warnings. 5. Members will always treat hypnosis and the use of hypnosis with the greatest respect. They will never treat hypnosis as a toy or a tool to boost their ego. Members will be masters of their art at all times. Never rising to challenges. 6. As a member you must never use hypnosis for medical purposes or as an Anaesthetic and we recommend that it should not be used as a tool to deliberately produce amnesia. 7. Members will not use catalepsy to prove the body’s strength and will not conduct any form of body piecing using needles or any other act that may cause harm to your volunteers. 8. Members will only hypnotise volunteers. 9. Hypnotising children is not recommended by the organisation. 10. The Hypnotist will never use sexual acts as part of their performance and will not use any advertising material, props or statements that may be considered to be offensive of harmful to the audience or volunteers 11. The member will not allow volunteers to reveal secrets whilst under hypnosis. 12. The use of post hypnotic suggestions are not recommended, however if they are used they should be used in the presence of the hypnotist and a check of the volunteer after the suggestion has taken effect is recommended. 13.
