Fun DIY to do this Halloween

By Charlotte Bako

Yarn Pumpkins

Items you need:

21 pieces of orange yarn, cut to 36 inch lengths

2 ounces of white glue

1 balloon (12 inch size) blown up half full

1 brown pipe cleaner and 1 green pipe cleaner

Directions:

1. Cut out about 21 pieces of yarn about 36 inches long

2. Tie one of the pieces of yarn to the end of the balloon. Open one of your kitchen cabinets and hang

the balloon from the handle.

3. Pour the glue into a small bowl. It takes about one full 2 ounce bowl of glue per yarn pumpkin.

4. Dunk one of the pieces of yarn into the bowl of glue, and swirl it around gently with a plastic fork to

get it completely covered with glue.

5. Hold the end of the piece of yarn with your fingers, then gently run it between the tunes of a fork to

remove the excess glue.

6. Take the glue covered yarn strand and press the end down somewhere on the balloon, making sure

you press down the ends of the yarn to secure them in place. Repeat with the remaining pieces of

yarn.

7. When you’re done, find somewhere to hang the yarn covered balloons to dry. It takes a full 24 hours.

8. You need to make sure you press your fingers down under the yarn to detach the glue from the

balloon – the entire surface of the balloon.

9. Make a very small hole in the balloon close to where the knot is (it won’t pop if you cut it near the

knot) You want the air to leak slowly so you can detach any yarn that you might’ve missed as it

shrinks.

10. Then pull the deflated balloons out through one of the openings from the yarn.

11. Make the pipe cleaner stem and vine by wrapping the pipe cleaners around your baby finger.

Then you have finished!

Honey Mustard Chicken and Apples

Ingredients;

8 skin-on, bone-in chicken thighs (2 to 2 ½ pounds)

Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper

2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

1 large onion, cut into large chunks

2 cooking apples (such as Cortland), cut into chunks

1 cup low-sodium chicken broth

2 to 3 tablespoons honey mustard

1 ½ teaspoons unsalted butter, softened

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

1 to 2 tablespoons roughly chopped fresh parsley

Directions;

1) Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Heat the

olive oil in a large ovenproof skillet over medium-high heat. Working in batches if

necessary, add the chicken, skin-side down, and cook until golden, about 6 minutes. Flip

and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, then transfer to a plate. Pour off all but 2 tablespoons of

drippings.

2) Add the onion and apples to the skillet and season with salt and pepper. Cook until

slightly softened, about 4 minutes. Mix the broth with the mustard, then add to the

skillet and bring to a boil. Arrange the oven and roast until the chicken is cooked

through, 15 to 20 minutes.

3) Mix the butter and flour to form a paste. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the chicken,

apples, and onion to plates. Bring the pan juices to a simmer, whisk in about half of the

butter-flour mixture and boil to thicken, 2 minutes. Continue to cook, adding more of

the butter-flour mixture as needed to make a slightly thick gravy. Season with salt and

pepper. Pour over the chicken and sprinkle with parsley.

Vaquita

By Evan-san

The vaquita is a porpoise that lives in the Gulf of California, and is currently

the most endangered marine mammal in the world. This tiny sea creature was

discovered in the 1950’s and now there are as few as 30 of them remaining. The

vaquita population were estimated to drop at the rate of 18.5% a year. In 2014 the

population had dropped to below 100. With very few left, they will soon disappear

completely.

Some people say the only way the species can survive is if they are kept in

captivity. The vaquita will most likely go extinct by 2018 if fishery bycatch is not

eliminated immediately. Fishery bycatch is when one fish gets caught up in a net

purposed for another fish. Nearly one out of five vaquita are caught in the net’s

made for the totoaba and die because of it. The totoaba are another critically

endangered species that are found where the vaquita live. The nets made for the

totoaba are the main reason the vaquita are going extinct.

To save this sea creature you can donate to the efforts made for the vaquita

and help raise money and awareness. If more people know about the vaquita then

there is more of a chance it can be saved.

Fun Fact: The vaquita is also called the sea cow.

Mysteries of Life: the

Illuminati By Sam Lee

The Illuminati is a group of plutocrats interested in changing things; however they

want, no matter what the effect is on the rest of the world. There are multiple

theories of how they work. One theory is that there are thirteen bloodlines in

which the devil has put his genes in 13 evil families. Their descendants are the

current Illuminati. Another theory is that the devil is the leader while a third idea

believes the Illuminati are made up of lizard men from another dimension! Only

one thing is for sure, the Illuminati is evil and will not be an easily defeated

organization if it exists. It is absolutely a

Mystery of Life!

The Ghost By Miss. M

Callie Jones was dead. That was the truth, the awful truth. Her death was caused by a reckless texting

and driving accident. And she wasn’t the one driving. It was Darren Walsh her boyfriend who incidentally

attempted to kill her, and it worked. Now she was in the afterlife and it was pure torture as far as Callie was

concerned.

So she escaped. Slipping through the cracks and flaws of a system were second nature to Callie. It was

simpler than she thought to break the weak force field that had trapped her for so long in its clutches.

Tracking down Darren was child’s play in her opinion. He was a widowed man, a former shell of his confident

self. Since there was no woman to target, it was up to Callie to turn to the daughter, Brianna. She had never

intended to bring the poor girl into her father’s mess, but as far as Callie was concerned he had to pay. And if

this was how to get to him, then so be it.

Brianna was a pretty blonde like her father, but she must have had her mom’s eyes because they

weren’t Darren’s. She was sweet enough to make anybody feel guilty, but not Callie. Guilt never worked on

demons. One day when Darren was out meeting a new girl, Brianna was studying in her room, and crying. Her

tears slipped down her cheeks just like the rain on her window. She missed her mom but never broke down in

front of her dad, it was just too awkward. Callie took no more time thinking and struck.

All it took was to stand in front of her and suddenly she recognized the girl. The fact that Darren had

named her Brianna was strange because that was her middle name. Calliana Brianna Melon. Callie began to

cry, as she began to recognize her own daughter. It all locked into place, those eyes were Callie’s, those

cheekbones were Callie’s, the way she pursed her lips, that was all Callie standing in front of her. And yet

somehow it wasn’t.

It may have truly been an accident. Maybe Darren really was sorry. And every time he looked at

Brianna he saw Callie and it was like a punishment. Callie stepped forward and caressed Brianna’s cheek once

and then disappeared into thin air. Brianna cried even harder, somehow knowing that she had just

encountered her mother for the first time in her life. Would she ever see her mother again?

Or was that a one time thing……..

To be continued………………………….

All Hollows Eve By Miss A

It was one cold, bitter night as a group of 5 friends were walking down the street. It was the

night before Halloween, and suddenly they heard a branch SNAP!!! One of the girls ran to her

house, which was two houses down from where they stood. Two other girls followed her.

Now, there were only two …The taller girl, Emma was strong and independent. The other

girl, Olivia was fairly short and not as strong and very dependent on Emma .

Olivia whispered, “Did you hear that?”

Emma commanded, “Clam up! You’re so uptight! It was just a branch …”

Emma takes a step towards the woods. She bends down and sees a black puddle. She takes out

her phone and turns on the flash. She sees a puddle of deep, dark sticky goopy blood!

Emma, “Oh My God!”

Olivia, “What is it?” She walks next to Emma but falls backward onto the ground.

“AHHHH! What is that from?!”

Emma, “I don’t know, but it’s so gross! I think its blood!”

Olivia’s face flushes pale. Two day ago she remembers seeing a missing child poster for

one of her friends. “Do you think it’s her?”

Emma, “No, Olivia! You know that she is still alive,” she hugs Olivia.

“We better go home!”

Olivia answers, “Yeah.”

Emma and Olivia walk for about three more hours. Olivia has always been the quiet, shy,

creepy girl. Emma suddenly feels a sharp pain in her back. Emma turns to look at Olivia, Olivia’s

face is pale and she is shaking violently.

Emma, “What is it Olivia?” Olivia points in front of Emma. Emma turns and the color in

her checks turn a white ghost like color. The sight she sees makes her blood turn cold and she

feels as if her heart has stopped beating. She sees Oliva’s friend Jackie, the poor innocent girl that

went missing.

Scary Stories…

By Miss. M

Creep Street Teresa was no baby. Nothing scared her or so she liked to pretend. It was after dark and

Halloween was long gone. Teresa had separated from her friends twenty minutes before and

decided to walk home herself. Her parents were probably worried sick! Teresa swore she’d

stayed around the area as she’d been instructed. She couldn’t imagine how she’d wandered so

far off.

“I must have taken a wrong turn,” she chided herself casually in the dark. Teresa slowly

turned; illuminated in an eerie light was a street sign. Marked on that street sign were words

that chilled her spine and sent shivers wracking through her body. Goosebumps slipped over

her skin and she was frozen to that ground in terror. The sign said, “Creep Street.”

A raspy voice entered her mind, “You’re never leaving Creep Street!” Teresa never did.

Her parents searched and canines were sent to look, but no trace of the girl turned up.

However, every time one of Teresa’s parents looked in the mirror, she could see their red

rimmed eyes puffy and swollen from trying to find their daughter.

Book Reviews

By Miss. M

Twilight: I would definitely rate the book Twilight

as a favorite. I really encourage anyone who hasn’t

already read the book to do so! The first book focuses

mostly on the beginning of the saga. A young girl

moves from Arizona to Forks, Washington to live with

her father. When she sees a handsome young boy

across the cafeteria she develops an immediate crush. When she finds out his

darkest secret, she is targeted. Will she escape and be with the love of her life

or die trying?

Divergent : Beatrice Prior was an

average girl in a futuristic world. Her city was

divided into five factions. Amity, Dauntless,

Erudite, Candor, and Beatrice’s faction

Abnegation. On the Choosing Ceremony day,

Beatrice is asked to choose where she will put

her loyalties. To being risky, honest, selfless,

smart, or kind. When she pledges to Dauntless

and a life of danger she remembers, the test. In

this city, you are tested to find which faction you

would thrive in most. Beatrice’s results come in

inconclusive, and she is told she is Divergent. In

this city, Divergents are killed. She must be

careful if she wants to hide her true self, in order

to live.

Movie Review

Jurassic Park By Evan McCormack

Jurassic Park is truly one of the greatest movies ever made. Based on the

book by Michael Crichton, (R.I.P.) and adapted to film by Steven Spielberg,

everyone should see this classic at least once. The film is about a park created by

John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) to which he invites two paleontologists,

Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and Dr. Ellie Sadler, (Laura Dern) as well as several

others to give approval before it opens. Revealed to the guests are live dinosaurs,

created from DNA. However, things go awry when Dennis Nedry, a worker there,

takes a bribe to steal dinosaur embryos. That is when things go bad, but I am not

going to say any more.

The movie is beautifully scored by the legendary John Williams and has one

of the most memorable themes in movie history. The special effects for the

dinosaurs still look good today, and this is from 1993! It spawned two bad sequels

and one good one, as well as a ride at the Universal Park. I give this 5 stars as well

as a recommendation to watch it as soon as possible.

Movie Review

By Miss A

Twilight… Yes you heard me! Even though

it is an older movie, I totally recommend it! The

movie is about love, trust, and vampires. The

movie has a darker script, but it is filled with

drama and action. Some may call it a “chick

flick”, but I personally think it is an amazing

movie. The plot follows a girl named Bella, who

has a crush which slowly grows into an

obsession. I personally recommend this movie and book!

If you are looking for this book it is in our school library, and it is also

found in your nearest book store.

Game Reviews

By Evan McCormack

You may have read my review of Doom last year, and I thought the game was pretty

good. Recently, I got Doom 64, a new doom made for the Nintendo 64 in 1997. The game

contains 32 all new levels, therefore not making it a port. You have all your old weapons

(Shotgun, Plasma Rifle, all that good stuff), as well as some new ones, the Super Shotgun (from

Doom II) and the Unmaker (all new.) The gameplay and story are pretty much the same; run

and gun to stop a demon invasion, but that is just the way I like it.

There is one major problem though, and that is the darkness. The environments are very

dark and you will have to turn up the brightness level. In fact, you may have to adjust the TV’s

brightness as well.

A cool thing though, is that this game was designed by the original creators at ID

software. It is rated M because of violence, but it’s barely noticeable due to today’s standards.

Even though it has an annoying flaw, it is still a great game, and I’ll give it 4.5/5 stars.

furnish, and improve settlements. Fallout 4 is also the first game in the series to

feature full voice acting for the protagonist. Lastly, Fallout 4 released 6 dlc’s to the

public after the launch of the game. They were Automatron, Wasteland Workshop, Far

Harbor, Contraptions Workshop, Vault-Tec Workshop, and Nuka-World.

FORZA HORIZON

By Bryson Schwab

Forza Horizon is one of my favorite games. It’s a free roam racing game about leveling

up your racer and getting to the higher races. The way you beat the higher races is by getting

cars that are in that class of racing. The way you get those cars is by earning credits, which you

get by beating the lower races. If you want to get better cars, you have to save up your credits.

The types of cars you can get are Lamborghinis, Bentleys, Maserati’s, and many other

types. When you buy the cars, you get a limited amount of colors to choose from, but after

you own it, you can bring it to the paint shop and choose any color. In addition, when you are

in the paint shop you can put decals and pictures on your car.

Forza Horizon = 5 out of 5 stars.

Forza Motorsport 5 (game of the

year in 2013) By Freddy Sparklz

Forza motorsport 5 came out in 2013 as game of the year on September 22. Forza

motorsport 5 is a racing game where you can race, customize, upgrade, and you can obviously

buy more cars. You can get cars from the 1800s to present days. You can get all the classic and

modern cars, and when you race if you have other friends that play this on Xbox one, Xbox

360, PlayStation 3-4, and the computer too.

In this game, you have something called a

“Drivatar.” As you race the game is slowly

uploading your Drivatar to that race. When you

are done with that race, your Drivatar is ready to

race. Therefore, when your friends complete that

race they will see your Drivatar in action! After

each race you will earn money and the more you

race using your one car, the more money you will likely get when you win. As you level up,

you will earn certain badges.

In my opinion, I think this is a very good game and I would give this a 4-5 stars. I

recommend this game to everyone who loves racing games or is just getting into racing

games!

Minecraft, The newest

Updates

By Noah Beiter

Welcome to Minecraft, the game where the newest updates are

always happening. Take for example, these llamas. They were added

to Minecraft in early 2017. There are others to, like skin packs, world

packs, and more! Personally, my favorite new skin is the blue scout

from the space skin pack. Take a look.

Cool, right? Yeah! Well it was nice writing for you. I’ll see you

in the next Bulldog Buzz!

Zelda Breath of the Wild review By Pizza logger

Nintendo’s, Zelda Breath of the Wild is my personal favorite video

game. This game is an open concept strategy game. The point of the game is

to get all four divine beasts and blow the shizzle out of Calamity Gannon.

Before you discover the divine beasts, you will meet different

peoples such as the Gorons, Zora Rito, and the Gerudo. The Gorans are rock

eating boulder dudes. The Zora are hard to explain, so look it up yourself.

The Rito are bird people who are excellent archers. Finally there’s the

Gerudo, they are also hard to explain.

The divine beasts are giant mechanical animals. There is an elephant,

a bird, a camel, and a lizard. To activate them you need to complete a series of puzzles in order to activate

runes and get to the main console and fight the boss such as this Windblight Gannon.

The divine beasts ultimately destroy Gannon. I give this game 5 out of 5 stars

Fandom Review; Minecraft By Kadow

WARNING THIS IS ALL SURPISINGLY MY OPINION DON’T GET TUMBLR TRIGGERED!!!

Minecraft… I regret this already. Dear Mojang, you made an amazing creative game. Dear Fans, “…don’t get triggered,” as the warning says. This is a critique of the game, I don’t like the game but this is my opinion and I stand behind 1st amendment. The Good Minecraft itself is a wonderful game it’s just not my style. The game opens you up to a new world where you can do anything; fly, mine, swim, build and even get pets. Minecraft helps build creativity and has no real end goal besides fighting a dragon to see the credits. The game itself isn’t the problem. The next segment will cover the real problem; the fans. The Bad (the ugly too) The fan base is why Minecraft is hated. Now, I’m not saying all fans. I’m talking the 5 year old little kids

who squeak more than a mouse. They insist Minecraft is the best game ever made and can’t be topped, also

while calling “Notch”, (the creator of Minecraft) a god.

My opinion Minecraft the game is great, but the fans are its’ downfall. I used to love Minecraft and play it when I could get on. Now, I’m on other games like Skyrim, Fallout 3, and GTA V. I don’t mind the game, but I’d rather play something else. Playing with these new “fans” is the main reason I drifted from the game. They just aren’t fun to be around.

Five Nights at Freddys 2

By Freddy Sparklz

Here is a series that everybody probably misses. Five nights at

Freddy’s is a horror game series created by Scott Cawthon. You are a

night guard (Mike Schmidt). In this game, you have to survive 12am-6am,

which in real time each night is 6 minutes long. There are four different

games in the series. In FNAF 2, they introduce five new characters. There

is Toy Freddy, Toy Chica, Toy Bonnie, the marionette, Mangle, and finally

the most annoying character Balloon Boy. In my opinion, he is the most

annoying animatronic in this game!

By the way, I forgot to mention that the object of the game is to not

get killed by animatronics. In this game, a most annoying thing you have

to do is to wind the music box in order for the marionette not to kill you,

and you have to flash the light at Foxy in the hallway so he does not get

you. Be sure to check your vents too. If you want to fool the toy

animatronics, you have to use the Freddy head you are given. The

animatronics from the very

first game are in here too, but

they look like they came out

of the junkyard. There is also

a fifth game sister location

also made by Scott Cawthon.

Ideal review By Kadow

Stop growing up

WARNING THIS IS ALL SURPISINGLY MY OPINION, DON’T GET

TUMBLR TRIGGERED!!!

Ok I’m doing this now. I know this is different than

the fandom reviews that you have read in the past, but

stop wanting to grow up while you are so young. You’re

12-13 years old, maybe 14. Enjoy life! Enjoy being able to come home and go

outside.

Don’t worry so much about school either. You’re too young to worry about

things like this. Yeah, get decent grades, but don’t explode when you fail a test and

think it’s the end of the world! Being an 8th grader, I can tell you that 1 test

doesn’t matter. Enjoying your childhood is what matters. It would be bad to wake

up one day and realize that you don’t have your childhood. Think about life! I’d

rather live a short and fulfilling life than a long and miserable one. Be mindful and

enjoy every minute instead of always wishing for the future.

Middle School will be over before you know it! This is just a piece of advice

from a wizened 8th grader; to each their own I guess.
