PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Greetings, Thank goodness spring is around the corner! I’m ready for green grass, spring flowers, and most importantly, baseball with my boys! Over the last several months the NDCA board has fielded numerous calls and emails regarding WSI’s Chiropractic Pilot Study. While most of the chiropractors in the state have been minimally impacted by the Pilot Study, numerous concerns have been brought to my attention by NDCA members. A meeting with WSI was held in Bismarck on March 2nd with Dr. Muth, Dr. Anderson, and Dr. Ten Broek also in attendance. We discussed in minor detail the current Pilot Study and many of the concerns brought up by membership. Some of the concerns were addressed, some were attributed to confusion of WSI policy and other concerns we were not able to come to a solution. WSI has reported “cost savings” during the Pilot Study, however both parties agreed that the way we look at the data would be different. Moving forward, the NDCA will be in sharing with WSI statistical parameters that we are interested in. There is still 12-18 months remaining in the study, which started six months ago.

Later this month I will be heading to Washington, D.C. for NCLC. This is the time of year when the chiropractic profession congregates on Capitol Hill. It shall be an interesting time with newly elected President Trump, the possible repeal/replacement of the Affordable Care Act, and several pro-chiropractic bills. As usual we plan on meeting with all three of ND’s legislators. See you in Grand Forks at Convention; sounds like a wonderful time! Past President Report

Greetings, I don’t have a lot to report on. My job has been pretty easy these last few months. I did go to a legislative session with our lobbyist and the BOE on their law changes. The BOE

had to make a couple minor changes but it passed. So there will soon be advanced training for our Chiropractic Assistants. I attended a WSI meeting last week with Drs. Holkup, Anderson and Muth. The lines of communication are wide open which is really good. Just a reminder when you get a WSI case in your office, treat them like you would if they had 12 visits and no pre-authorization. If you see your patient on Friday and you think they need to return on Monday, then schedule them - even if you haven’t heard back from OCC yet. OCC has 3 days to get back to you and if you don’t hear from them, they may not have received your information in the first place. This will be my last Bulletin article! When I first started, I thought 8 years was forever but when I look back, it went fast!! I have enjoyed every minute of the new friendships and time on the board. I would encourage any and all of you to step up and get involved. You will not be sorry! Thanks again for trusting me for these years on the board. Sheri Ten Broek, DC Past President [email protected]

Vice President I look forward to seeing all of you at 2017’s convention. The NE district has been working hard to plan a great convention and it promises to be a wonderful weekend! Dr. Corey Campbell from the Motion Palpation Institute will be our convention speaker. He will be presenting on extremity adjusting. If you have a portable table, please bring it along for the hands-on portion of the seminar. I am currently working on booking speakers for the coming year. I really appreciate any and all input from membership. If there are any specific speakers or topics you would like to see, please email me at [email protected]. Dr. Jamie Kahl NDCA Vice President
