STORYTIMES (no registration required)

Bouncing Babies and Books – Tuesdays year-round at 10:30 am This storytime, for babies birth-24 months, will include a book, lots of singing, some musical instruments, and a lot of fun for you and your baby! It’s a great way to spend time with your little one while meeting new caregivers or meeting up with old friends (dress up for Halloween Oct. 28) Tales for 2s and 3s – Thursdays, September 18 through December 18 at 10:30 am A storytime specifically geared for toddlers who are 24-36 months old with a caregiver. We will read great stories, sing a lot of songs, and have plenty of music, movement, and fun! Your toddler will love meeting new storytime buddies! (dress up for Halloween Oct. 30) Preschool Alphabet Parade – Fridays, September 19 through December 19 at 10:30 am Fun stories, songs, activities, and a craft for children ages 3-5 with a caregiver. We will travel through the alphabet and feature a letter each week. Children are welcome to bring an object to storytime that begins with our weekly featured letter! New for fall: lower case alphabet/craft. (dress up for Halloween Oct. 31) PJ Family Storytime – Thursdays, Sept. 18, Oct. 2, 16 & 30, Nov. 13 & Dec. 4 & 18 at 6:30 pm Not able to attend storytime during the daytime? Not a problem! Dress the kids in their pajamas and head to the library for our new evening family storytime that will be held every other week! Stories, songs, musical instruments, parachute play, bubbles, and fun for the entire family! (dress up for Halloween Oct. 30)

TODDLER & PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS

Tales and Tunes – Tuesdays, September 16 through December 16 at 11:30 am No talking in this program…only singing! Children will be introduced to rhythm, beats, sounds and notes through the use of musical instruments and parachute play. Even our featured story will be sung. This program is geared toward toddlers and preschoolers. No registration required.

Bedtime Math – Wednesdays, October 8 and November 12 at 6:30 pm Learning to love math is as easy as putting on your pajamas! If you’re between ages 3-6, come out to the library where you’ll discover how much fun math can be! We will explore math concepts such as sorting, adding, subtracting, and shapes through hands-on activities, games, puzzles, and building. Registration requested.

GRADE SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Science Chefs – Wednesdays, October 15 and December 3 at 6:30 pm Those in grades K-3 can learn about science in a new and tasty way. We will travel to different countries while learning the science of cooking. Explore science experiments to do right in your kitchen, followed by an easy-to-make recipe that often uses food from the experiment. Registration requested. Mother/Daughter Book Club – Wednesdays, October 1, November 5, and December 17 at 6:30 pm Join our book group especially for girls (grades 3-6) and moms (or special female reading partner). Books will be available at the library for pick-up. Meet once a month for book discussion and enjoy a fun activity/craft/snack associated with the book. Registration requested. Center Stage Spotlighters – Reader’s Theater

Are you a ―drama queen or king‖ or just love to act? Then join our reader’s theater group for children entering grades 2-6. We will be acting, creating scenery for our play, and performing at the Family Holiday Party in December! Memorization not required, just expression and fun! Registration required.

Brushes Before Bedtime - Family Art Night / Registration requested Join us for a night of family painting and leave with a masterpiece designed by your entire family! We will provide all of the supplies and art smocks…your family provides the creativity and fun! No age limit requirements. A ―how to draw‖ segment will be included in each program.

Wednesdays at 6:30 pm: September 24 (Apples), October 29 (Dia de Los Muertos), and December 10 (Winter Birds) Creepy Crawly Café - Friday, October 17 at 6:30 pm / Registration required A menu of drinks, appetizers, a main entrée, and dessert await your family at the Creepy Crawly Café, all revolving around foods that sound gross (but taste great)! Who wouldn’t love some brain spaghetti for dinner, right?! Don’t miss this fun, pre-Halloween tasty family event.

Drop and Shop Saturday - Saturday, December 6 from 11 am-1:30 pm / Registration required Need to do some last minute shopping? Bring your children, ages 4-7, to the library for some fun while you power shop for a few hours! They will make holiday crafts, participate in a storytime, play holiday games, and watch a holiday show! Please pack a lunch and a drink for your child. Cell phone numbers must be provided.

Family Pumpkin Decorating Contest Does your child have a favorite book character? Clifford? Pete the Cat? Olivia? Captain Underpants? Now’s the time to enter our first ever book character family pumpkin decorating contest! The rules are simple!

1) Choose the book character your family will showcase 2) Buy a pumpkin and create it (paint, decorate, add hair, etc.) to look like your book character! 3) Bring your completed (uncarved) pumpkin book character to the library any time between October 1-15.

Pumpkins will be displayed beginning October 16, and patron voting will be ongoing through the remainder of the month with the top three winners announced on October 31! Goodnight Moon Family Astronomy Night - Friday, October 10 at 7:30 pm / Registration required Come spend an evening under the stars with local Baldwin astronomer Larry McHenry! Learn about the moon with an indoor presentation and several hands-on display areas followed by outdoor telescopic observations including the moon, star clusters, and galaxies! Included will be a green laser tour of the visible Fall seasonal constellations! Halloween Storywalk - Friday, October 24 at 7:00 pm / Registration required This is not just your average Halloween party. Come dressed in costume to our first ever library storywalk! Meet favorite characters at five different storywalk stations, hear a story, participate in an activity, and collect goodies at each station! Ho Ho Holiday Party - Saturday, December 13 at 10:30 am / Registration required This December, we’re combining holiday cheer with our Center Stage Spotlighters performance. Come and see our reader’s theater group perform in a holiday play, join in a sing-along, enjoy cookies and refreshments, and even a visit from a jolly man in a red suit! Bring your camera to capture your child’s special memory!

PJs, Pillows, and Popcorn - Family Movie Nights at 6:30 pm / No registration required Every month, as part of our Patron Appreciation Day, we will feature a new release family movie that your whole family will enjoy! Kids can bring their blankets, pillows and stuffed friend – we will provide the popcorn!
