New Evangelization Corner

Dear Friends, With the beginning of this new year, I’ve been praying quite a bit, asking the Lord what His vision is for evangelization in 2019. After two years of being in this position, I’ve come to understand that I am not the one “creating” this position, the Lord is. It’s my job to put into motion His plans and vision. This requires a lot of time spent listening in prayer. At the beginning of each year, I ask the Lord for a "word of the year." The word I receive usually signifies a way that the Lord wants me to grow. It doesn't come as a surprise, then, that the word I received in prayer for 2019 is “hear.” When we think of the word "hear" we usually think of a mental activity whereby we take in and comprehend physical sounds. But the Hebrew understanding of the word "hear" stresses action. It essentially means to "pay close atten-tion to what is being said, and act on it." Developing a heart that "hears" requires a lot of discipline. It requires that I, first off, actually show up to prayer. It requires that I order my schedule to prioritize prayer. It requires that I quiet my racing thoughts and ideas so I can receive from the Lord. And most of all, it requires courage and humility to act on what the Lord says, especially when it's difficult or contrary to what I want. Friends, with the parish re-clustering on the horizon, along with the planning for the future of the church buildings in Holdingford, it's important that we all develop a "hearing heart." We all must take time for prayer so we can receive our direction from God and act upon it. God’s vision for all of us is bigger and better than anything we could imagine. Let’s pray for hearts that receive His vision and put it into motion. ~Kristin Molitor

All Saints Funeral Luncheon Group

Our parishes have been trying to become united in all aspects of our community life, and Father Mastey has encouraged our funeral lunch groups to also become united. This project has been on-going for a good part 2018. Our goal is to have it com-pleted this March. At this time ALL parish-ioners are members of the funeral lunch program. If you were not a member in the past, but are a parishioner of All Saint's parish, you will now be called to serve. When you are contacted, you will be asked to work the day before or the day of the funeral, or bring baked goods or pickles. If you are unable to help in any of these ways, a $20.00 donation will be suggested.

At this time, what we need are group lead-ers to come forward. The responsibility of a leader is as follows: call workers to either work, bring food items, or monetary dona-tion; and to be in the kitchen the day of the funeral to oversee the preparation and serving of the lunch, and also the cleanup. Please note, leaders will not be responsible for purchasing groceries. As of now, leaders have come forward to have 7 groups. It would be ideal to have enough leaders to have 14 groups so each group would only have to serve about once a year. If you would be interested in only calling workers or overseeing the prepara-tion, that would be great also. We are also looking to create a sub list to call on, if needed. If you are willing to be on this list, please let us know.

If the Holy Spirit is inspiring you to step forward please answer the call. This is an opportunity right here in your own parish to perform a corporal work of mercy and to be part of community. Let us go forward with a positive attitude as if Jesus was in our group and we couldn't wait to work beside Him. Please call Judy Heitzman at 746-2361 or Joan Frie at 746-2392 to step forward and answer the call.

Prayer Service for Life-January 22nd Join in for Mass at the Cathedral of St. Paul at 10:30 a.m. followed by the 30-minute march beginning at noon on the State Capitol grounds. Pray for those preparing to attend World Youth Day 2019, January 22-29th in Panama City.

Merciful Father, You call us to live our lives as a way of salvation. Help us to recall the past with gratitude, to embrace the present with courage and to build the future with hope. Lord Jesus, our friend and brother, thank you for looking upon us with love. Let us listen to your voice as it resonates in the hearts of each one with the strength and light of the Holy Spirit. Grant us the grace of being a Church that goes forth with vi-brant faith and a youthful face to communicate the joy of the Gospel. May we help to build up the kind of society we long for, one where there is fairness and fellowship. We pray for the Pope and bishops; for priests and deacons; for those in consecrated life and for volunteers; for young people and all who will participate in the upcoming World Youth Day in Panamá, and for those who are preparing to receive them. Our Lady of Antigua, Patroness of Panama, help us to pray and live with generosity like yours: “I am the servant of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word” (Lk 1:38). Amen. ~ WYD Panama Pilgrim Prayer
