SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

First Reading: Acts 10:25-26, 34-35, 44-48 Peter preaches to the Gentiles for the first time in the house of Cornelius. Peter realized that God would accept any person who acted uprightly, regardless of his or her herit-age. Then the Holy Spirit de-scended on the Gentiles and Peter allowed them to be bap-tized in the name of Jesus. Second Reading: I John 4:7-10 John advises all believers to love one another, for love is a gift from God. The person without love does not know God, whose love for us is so great he sent his only son so that we might have life through him. Gospel: John 15:9-17 Jesus asks his disciples to live on in his love and to “Love one another as I have loved you.” He explains that he chose them to follow him, and promises if they keep his commandments they will have anything that they ask for in his name.

FEAST PROGRESS REPORT Although key leadership positions for the Feast have been filled there still remains a very big need for man power to do the things that must be done. The Good News is that we have a list of approxi-mately 100 names of businesses, organizations, and individuals (complete with addresses and tel. num-bers) of donors who are ready to donate. The Bad news is that we need the man power to call upon them to accept the donation. If you would be willing to help the Committee with this extremely important task, please call Ginny Eagan @ 624-9744.

Without this help the Feast may very well end up not being a reality.

TUITION ASSISTANCE FOR CATHOLIC SCHOOLS

Elementary School: Assistance is provided for chil-dren in Grade 1 – 8. Assistance for children in Kin-dergarten will be considered according to need and resources available. High School: In addition to this form, the Diocese requires families to complete the FACTS need assis-tance application and have received a statement of calculated need. LUMEN GENTIUM AWARD On Wednesday, May 16, 2018 the Diocese of Providence will hold their annual Lumen Gentium Award Dinner at Twin Rivers in Lincoln. This award dinner is held each year for the Church to recognize those who have given faith filled service to their Catholic Community. Pauline Nadeau from St. Christopher Parish will be recognized for her decades of service to her parish community at this dinner. “A parishioner at St. Christo-pher Church in Tiverton for half a century, Pauline is well-known for her ‘quiet and consistent’ efforts on be-half of her parish over the decades.” From faith formation to parish events to liturgical environment, Pauline has served her parish in various ministries. Pauline says,: “Prayer has been a very important part of my life. If you get away from the basics of faith you lose the meaning of it...We need to keep prayer the focal part of our lives.” So we extend congratulations to Pauline on her upcoming award and thank her for the many decades of ser-vice and ministry to St. Christopher Church and her parishioners!

INTERNATIONAL PILGRIM VIRGIN STATUE The International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima will be touring several parishes in the Diocese of Providence. If interested, please see the front bulletin board for the itinerary.
