The decision is usually made two days prior to the first scheduled class meeting and all registrants will be notified promptly. A full refund is processed automatically. To help prevent cancellations, please register at least five days before a course is scheduled to begin.

Does CBI offer a Senior Citizen discount?In non-credit classes that have met sufficient enrollment, senior citizens (60 years of age or above) may register in a non-credit course, tuition free, on a space available basis. In the case of a class that has insufficient paying enrollment, all senior citizens will be required to pay the full tuition for the class. Limit three classes per semester, ed2go & certification classes are not eligible. Senior citizens eligible for tuition free classes must pay for any additional material fees.

Can I get a refund? In non-credit classes, full refunds will be given if a course is cancelled or if a student withdraws three days prior to the course. In order to receive a refund, request can be made in writing, by phone (276)739-2430, or in person.

Non-Credit Tuition PolicyNon-credit prices are listed beside each course and are for one class participant. Some may not include course material charges or supplies which vary with each class.

Open Enrollment Companies registering employees must provide notice of canceling enrollment 3 days prior to class or company will be charged for attendance.

When can I sign up?If space is still available in a class, registrations are taken until the first day of the class. However, we encourage you to sign up early in case a class is cancelled due to low enrollment.

How do I get to your office?The Center for Business & Industry is located on the Virginia Highlands Community College Campus in the Administration building. VHCC is located off exit 14 in Abingdon, Virginia.

August 24 - First day of classes - All tuition payments should be finalized

August 28 - Last day to add without faculty permission

September 10 - Last day to add/drop a course, change from audit to credit, and receive tuition refund. All tuition payments must be finalized or current enrollment will be subject to cancellation.

October 29 - Last day to withdraw from class without academic penalty or change from credit to audit

December 14-17 - Final Exams for day & night classes

Administrative Withdrawal Policy for dynamic dated (two/four day) courses:All students absent the first day of a two- or four-day class, will be administratively withdrawn on the next business day. Students will receive a “W,” and will not receive a refund. All financial aid students should check with the Financial Aid Office to determine the effect on their award.
