Once in Royal David’s City Text: Cecil F. Alexander 1848Tune: Henry Gauntlett 1849
Congregation with Choir
Once in royal David's city stood a lowly ca]le shed, where a mother laid her baby in a manger for his bed. Mary was that mother mild, Jesus Christ her li]le child.
He came down to earth from heaven who is God and Lord of all,and his shelter was a stable, and his cradle was a stall: with the poor and meek and lowly lived on earth our Savior holy.
Jesus is our childhood's pa]ern, day by day like us he grew;he was li]le, weak, and helpless, tears and smiles like us he knew: and he feeleth for our sadness, and he shareth in our gladness.
And our eyes at last shall see him, through his own redeeming love, for that Child, so dear and gentle, is our Lord in heav'n above, and he leads his children on to the place where he is gone.

Tune: Johann G. Ebeling 1666
Chancel Choir
All my heart this night rejoices,As I hear, far and near, sweetest angel voices.“Christ is born,” their choirs are singing,6ll the air ev'rywhere now with joy is ringing.
Hark! a voice from yonder manger,soY and sweet, doth entreat, “Flee from woe and danger!Brethren, come, from all doth grieve you.You are freed; all you need, I will surely give you."
Come then, let us hasten yonder; Here let all, great and small, kneel in awe and wonder.Love him who with love is yearning.Hail the star that from far bright with hope is burning!
Away in a Manger Text: st. 1-2, Anon. 1885st. 3, John McFarland 1892
Tune: William J. Kirkpatrick 1895arr. David Willcocks
Chancel Choir
Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,the li]le Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head. The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay,the li]le Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.
The ca]le are lowing, the baby awakes, but li]le Lord Jesus, no crying he makes.I love thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky,and stay by my cradle 6ll morning is nigh.
Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask thee to stayclose by me forever, and love me, I pray.Bless all the dear children in thy tender care, and fit us for heaven to live with thee there.

What Child Is This? Text: William C. Dix 1871Tune: Traditional English melody
Congregation with Chancel Choir
What child is this who, laid to rest, on Mary's lap is sleeping? Whom angels greet with anthems sweet, while shepherds watch are keeping? This, this is Christ the King, whom shepherds guard and angels sing.Haste, haste to bring him laud, the babe, the son of Mary.
Why lies he in such mean estate where ox and ass are feeding? Good Chris6ans, fear, for sinners here the silent Word is pleading. Nails, spear shall pierce him through, the cross be borne for me, for you.Hail, hail the Word made flesh, the babe, the son of Mary.
So bring him incense, gold, and myrrh, come, peasant, king, to own him; the King of kings salva6on brings, let loving hearts enthrone him. Raise, raise the song on high, the virgin sings her lullaby.Joy, joy, for Christ is born, the babe, the son of Mary.
Joy to the World Text: Isaac Watts 1719Tune: G. F. Handel 1742arr. Philip Lawson 2009
Chancel Choir
Joy to the world, the Lord is come! Let earth receive her King; let every heart prepare him room, and heav’n and nature sing, and heav’n and nature sing, and heav’n, and heav’n, and nature sing.
He rules the world with truth and grace, and makes the na6ons prove the glories of his righteousness, and wonders of his love, and wonders of his love, and wonders, wonders of his love.
Joy to the world, the Savior reigns! Let all their songs employ; while fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains repeat the sounding joy, repeat the sounding joy, repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.
