THE CFS WEEKLY GROWING AND LEARNING TOGETHERTo Parents and Carers, Hello CFS Family Welcome to Week 3 of Semester 2, 2018. It has been a very smooth start to the semester and this is because we have a very energec and capable team at CFS. Everyone works together in a collaborave, supporve and happy environment, and our focus is always on the wellbeing of our children. Our children once again did us proud last Friday in bringing home the trophy from the regional athlecs carnival. It s not all about winning; parcipaon, team work, doing your best, supporng each other, and following the rules are all part of the compeve sport experience. It is nice to win somemes too! Focusing on more mundane maers, there have been some instances of bullying, mainly in the form of teasing, in class and in the playgrounds. As children grow and learn, they develop social skills. For some, these skills come naturally, for others it takes a while to learn what is socially acceptable. The staff at CFS are pro-acve and vigilant in addressing bullying when they see it. Unfortunately, some bullying behavior does slip under the radar, and we are asking for your help in these cases. If your child is being bullied in any way at school, please come in and talk to us about it. If we know about bullying, we can take steps to prevent it. A big part of the psychology of a serial bully is the belief that they will not be caught. Therefore, calling out bullies and making them accountable for their acons is key to breaking the bullying cycle. In most cases, a child will become a bully if they have unresolved issues and they dont know how to cope. Calling out bullies not only helps the vicms, it also allows the child who is the bully to get the help they need, thereby treang the cause, not just the symptoms. I trust you will work with me to eradicate the small amount of bullying that is occurring at CFS and support our uniquely diverse yet inclusive school. Hope to see you at the Parent BBQ on Wednesday night. Jeff ————————————————————————— Clyde Fenton School Council invites all parents to a Parents BBQ on Wednesday 8 August from 6pm. THE CFS WEEKLY “GROWING AND LEARNING TOGETHER”

To Parents and Carers,

Hello CFS Family

Welcome to Week 3 of Semester 2, 2018.

It has been a very smooth start to the semester and this is

because we have a very energetic and capable team at CFS.

Everyone works together in a collaborative, supportive and

happy environment, and our focus is always on the wellbeing

of our children.

Our children once again did us proud last Friday in bringing

home the trophy from the regional athletics carnival. It’s not

all about winning; participation, team work, doing your best,

supporting each other, and following the rules are all part of

the competitive sport experience. It is nice to win sometimes

too!

Focusing on more mundane matters, there have been some

instances of bullying, mainly in the form of teasing, in class

and in the playgrounds. As children grow and learn, they

develop social skills. For some, these skills come naturally, for

others it takes a while to learn what is socially acceptable.

The staff at CFS are pro-active and vigilant in addressing

bullying when they see it. Unfortunately, some bullying

behavior does slip under the radar, and we are asking for

your help in these cases. If your child is being bullied in any

way at school, please come in and talk to us about it. If we

know about bullying, we can take steps to prevent it.

A big part of the psychology of a serial bully is the belief that

they will not be caught. Therefore, calling out bullies and

making them accountable for their actions is key to breaking

the bullying cycle. In most cases, a child will become a bully if

they have unresolved issues and they don’t know how to

cope. Calling out bullies not only helps the victims, it also

allows the child who is the bully to get the help they need,

thereby treating the cause, not just the symptoms.

I trust you will work with me to eradicate the small amount

of bullying that is occurring at CFS and support our uniquely

diverse yet inclusive school.

Hope to see you at the Parent BBQ on Wednesday night.
