why choose garden hideouts?Garden Hideouts evolved quite naturally from our experience as a company building award-winning

canal boats. We realised that making the most of small spaces and creating a product that stands up

to the elements beautifully was our speciality.

So we decided to apply exactly the same principles to commissioning our Shepherd Huts and Garden

Pods. There is an insistence on the finest materials built onto a super-strength structure that will keep its

looks for years to come.

We combine modern technology, such as CNC cutting, with traditional crafts such as joinery and iron

casting, to fashion a room that is steeped in tradition yet meets all the expectations of a contemporary

lifestyle.

And above all, we are committed to customer service. All our years of experience building boats to

customer’s requirements is applied to our garden hideouts. Our standard model has been carefully

designed to meet a wide range of needs, but can be easily tailored to your own requirements through

a whole range of optional features.

Our models aren’t the cheapest you can buy, but that’s for a good reason. The materials, the fit and

finish, the durability and the clever thinking that goes into every Shepherd Hut and Garden Pod make

Specification

FrameThe frame is made of high-grade structural plywood, precision-cut on CNC equipment. Themethod of construction is one commonly used in Canadian house construction, ensuring a rigidand robust structure which is also environmentally friendly.

ChassisThe chassis is made of steel with a combination of longitudinal beams and transverse ribs, whichmeans that the Chatsworth is built to stand up to the rigours of transportation. There is also aturntable at the front of the chassis for easy manoeuvring.

WheelsOur bespoke ‘Garden Hideout’ wheels are cast in traditional foundries in the Black Country.

Exterior finish and roofThe exterior is clad in traditional ‘wriggly tin’ coated in plastisol – a very thick rubbery type ofcoating which is corrosion proof and rust free with the ability to withstand extreme weatherconditions. The exterior and roof can also be clad in cedar planks for an extra charge.

Insulation100mm of rockwool, which provides a high level of acoustic and thermal insulation. Your hutwill be cosy all year round!

HeatingLPG heating comes as standard which creates warm air heating through a vent under thebanquette. There is also a heated towel radiator to provide additional heat in the bathroom.(Other options available include electric heating and solid fuel stoves).

Electrics & LightingThere is feature lighting above the banquette, backlit pigeon holes and wall lights with bespoke

shades. The electric system conforms and is certified to normal domestic standards with a

distribution panel complete with RCDs and MCBs. There are a number of double sockets in the

Chatsworth, plus fused appliances.

Doors & WindowsThe Chatsworth features double-glazed wooden windows, painted with Farrow &Ball paint to

your colour choice. Glazed wooden French doors, also painted, lead to steps or an optional

raised deck.

FlooringQuick-Step Impressive Ultra laminate with water-repellent ‘Hydroseal’ coating.

Window TreatmentFlush finish Roman blinds throughout.

Paint ColoursInterior walls and woodwork painted in your choice of colour from the Farrow & Ball range.

Design FeaturesPanelling, feature bookcase, upholstered button-back banquette seating in fire- retardant fabric,

and a hardwood table. The seating and table become a generous double bed when required.

DeckFitted to the front of the Shepherd Hut to provide a raised outdoor area, ideal for seating or

Solar PanelsFitted to the roof and ideal when a mains supply is not available.

Audio-VisualDepending on your chosen use for your Chatsworth Shepherd Hut, we can provide a

comprehensive audio-visual package fitted during construction.

Tongue & GrooveIf you prefer a more traditional interior we can substitute the panelling for a Tongue & Groove

finish for no extra cost. This will be painted in your chosen Farrow & Ball colour.

Wardrobes & Additional StorageWe can accommodate further bespoke storage if you need it, and will plan and cost this at

the design stage.

Full BedIf you prefer a fixed bed to the banquette convertible seating (for example if you’re using

the Chatsworth as an extra bedroom on a regular basis) we can easily accommodate this

at no extra charge.

Money Matters

We take an initial deposit of £1000 to book your slot in our production schedule. We will

agree the specification and draw up a contract. Once the contract is signed we ask for a

further payment to take your total paid to 20% of the total cost. From then on we only take

payments once work is completed. Once the framing and lining is completed we require

another 60%. The final 20% is paid on handover.

Delivery

Once your build commences, the average time for the whole build process is 4-5 weeks.

Obviously the cost of delivery depends on your location in the UK and the nature of the site.

Part of the service is a free site survey in which we assess the area and give you a fixed price

for placing your Shepherd Hut in the chosen spot in your garden.
