Saturday, April 16 th 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. At Dunn County Fish and Game Clubhouse 1600 Pine Avenue East Menomonie, Wisconsin Kathy Ruggles, Mark Leach, Jess Carstens, and John Thomas will be conducting a Basic Crew Member Training In the classroom, they will cover the basics of fire behavior and management. There will be hands-on experience with tools. If the weather conditions are suitable, you will also have experience with using those tools to ignite and extinguish a grass fire. It is important that you wear suitable clothing and footwear for burning: natural fiber clothing (cotton, or wool, not polyester or other synthetic) and leather boots. Bring leather or cotton gloves, a cap and bandana. The Chippewa Savannas Chapter of the Prairie Enthusiasts Beginning Training for Prescribed Burns The classroom training will be held at the Dunn County Fish and Game in Menomonie and the burn practice will be held at Dobbs Landing west of Colfax. You will need to have transportation from Menomonie to Dobbs or plan to car pool with other participants. Bring a bag lunch for the noon break. There will be a charge of $15. You must be 18 years of age to take the course or 16 years old with parental authorization. You will be asked to sign a liability waiver and health self-assessment form.
