WOW! Summer is moving along rather quickly. The children of First Christian Church have been on the go since the week of June 10 as our summer programming began with Vacation Bible School.

Wild Wonderful Wednesdays started with a trip to the Zoo in Abilene. Twenty-six children and adults made that journey and experienced just a glimpse of God’s beautiful creations. The weekend of June 21-23, twenty-two adults and children attended the Central Area Grand Beginnings Camp. Grand Beginnings is for children ages 4 up thru completed 3rd grade and a parent or grandparent. We had a wonderful time! For Wild Wonderful Wednesday we have had a “Funny Eye Day,” “Funny Hand Day,” and coming up in the near future a “Funny Feet Day.” Each “funny day” has scripture, a Bible study and a mission outreach component. FCC was well represented at the Central Area JYF Camp, a camp for those who have completed the 4th or 5thgrade. We had 9 campers, 1 counselor and the keynoter (Jim Reynolds). It was an amazing adventure as we talked about faith adventures of Bible figures as well as our own. We are not finished yet! This coming Wednesday the children will be going on a day Mystery Trip. I can’t disclose the destination just yet but I know without a doubt it will be a great adventure. If you would like to travel with us please make your rsvp today! Then to bring our summer to a close, we will travel on Aug. 14 to the big town of Big Spring and have a splashing day of fun at their awesome water park. Yes, we have been busy. I am very proud of our children for not letting summer vacation keep them from exploring God’s creation, learning more about their faith and deepening their relationship with Jesus Christ.

In loving partnership,

Ponderings… Rev. Paula Brooks
