The Christmas Story - Part 2

It is so easy to get distracted with all of the activities around Christmas; preparingfor time off work, shopping, traveling tosee family, etc. Nothing wrong with all of that although some people spendmoney they dont have but life canquickly blot out the real series of eventswhich occurred around the birth of Christwhich Christmastime purports to

celebrate. When we strip off all of thetraditions and definitions that have beenadded, we see that the birth of Christ intothe earth was a strategic move from Godagainst the darkness.

Matt 2:9 the star they had seen inthe east went ahead of them until it

stopped over the place where thechild was. 10 When they saw the

star, they were overjoyed. 11 Oncoming to the house, they saw thechild with his mother Mary, and theybowed down and worshiped him.Then they opened their treasures and

presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh. 12 And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned totheir country by another route. 13When they had gone, an angel of the

Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream."Get up," he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt.Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him." 14 So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, 15 where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was

fulfilled what the Lord had said

through the prophet: "Out of Egypt I called my son." (NIV)

In the previous article in this series wesaw how the darkness responded:disinformation, plots involving genocidalrage, a corrupt and undiscerning church all of this was an attempt to keepmankind locked down into mortality anddeath. These verses that are referred toespecially at Christmas time actuallydescribe a violent clash of kingdoms:

Light vs. darkness, both of which usedintelligence to outmaneuver the other.

The Prophetic as IntelligenceBeing prophetic is not just having a giftthat operates in the Church, it is beingconnected to God in order to be pilotedfrom the next realm so that we can livecorrectly here upon the earth. Nothing

that darkness perpetrates can stop the people of God from moving the earthforward towards Divine purpose. Thoughsatanic systems try to resist and thwartdivine p urpose, the prophetic is given toensure that, as the people of God, we can

partner with God to accomplish His will. Note the numerous ways that the prophetic manifested itself in this seriesof events around Christs birth:

Actionable Intelligence. Matthew 2:12 And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to

their country by another route . The Lord

gave the wise men clear intelligenceregarding Herods motivation and his true purposes and they acted on this insightimmediately. Instead of returning toHerod or traveling back by the sameroute, they avoided the surveillanceassigned by the state. The ability togather and correctly assess the intentionsof foreign governments is a valuablecommodity that nations pay enormoussums to acquire, but even then they oftenfail. This was the issue behind the flawedCIA intelligence regarding that Iraq

possessed WMDs, something PresidentBush said represented his greatest regretin office (see December 1, 2008interview with Charles Gibson / ABC video / transcript ).

Political Refugee. Matthew 2:13 Anangel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in adream. "Get up," he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Staythere until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him." Godalso warned Joseph in a dream of theimpending assassination attempt of the

boy, and told Joseph to flee with hisfamily and reside under the jurisdictionof a foreign government where there

were no warrants for his arrest and probably no treaties of extradition. Jesuslived in Egypt as a ruler in exile whilewaiting for the existing administration to

perish.

Evading Homeland Security. Matthew2:14 So he got up, took the child and hismother during the night and left for

Egypt. The familys migration from Israelto Egypt was done covertly at night inorder to avoid the border and customscheckpoints that would trip the homelandsecurity mechanisms of the state. Elijahhad a similar experience when Ahab and

all of his mechanisms of state couldntfind the prophet in more than three yearsof intense searching, even though he waslocated less than 100 miles due Northfrom Ahabs palace. As a Jew and a

prophet living in the home of a singleGentile woman in Zarephath (modernday Syria) Elijah should have stood outand been easy to locate, but God hid the

prophet in plain sight.

Re-Entrance & Distance from FederalAuthority. Matt 2:19 After Herod died, an

angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt 20 and said, "Get up,take the child and his mother and go tothe land of Israel, for those who weretrying to take the child's life are dead." 21 So he got up, took the child and hismother and went to the land of Israel. 22

But when he heard that Archelaus wasreigning in Judea in place of his father

Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew tothe district of Galilee, 23 and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. Sowas fulfilled what was said through the

prophets: "He will be called a Nazarene." Upon the death of the despotic Herod,further prophetic intelligence was given

to Joseph in order to mobilize hisfamil ies re-entrance into Israel .However, Herods son was unsafe so thefamily was directed to an obscure

Northern region of the nation, far fromthe center of federal power resident in thecapitol city within Herod II.

There were multiplied manifestations of the prophetic: the wise men were warnedin a dream, Joseph also had multipledreams, and all acted in obedience to therevealed will of God. These things teachus of the need for the Church to embracea Prophetic Dimension that has the

capacity to govern and shape everydimension of life. Events cannot happenwithin the financial systems of the earth,in major elections or within global trendswithout our discernment and knowledgeof how it fits into Gods one purpose for the whole earth. We must be Prophetic sowe can live and act wisely upon theearth!

We see two other things in these passages:

Eventscannot happen within thenancial systems of theearth, in major elections or wi th in g lobal t rendswithout our discernment and knowledge of how it ts into Gods one purposefor the whole earth. Wemust be Prophetic so wecan live and act wisely upon the earth!

1.The mastery of Gods Kingdom over human events and spiritual darkness,and His desire to empower us with

prophetic insight. The amazing thingabout this clash of Kingdoms is that Godgave advance notice through multiple

prophetic words spoken hundreds of years before, all mentioned in Matthew 2.These include: a) where the Christ would

be born, v 4; b) that the Son would becalled out of Egypt, v 15; c) thatgenocide would occur, v 17; d) that Hewould be called a Nazarene, i.e. settle inthe Northern province, v 23.

Even with this forewarning, darknesscould do nothing to stop the purposes of God from being birthed into the earth. AllGod needed was a few humble andobedient humans, like Mary and her husband Joseph, and they took on theentire Satanic structure which used Herodand his soldiers who acted in futilityagainst the Lord. God declared it inadvance and even then it could not bestopped He is 10 jumps ahead of the

police!

Through the prophetic, God empowers uswith His insight and ability, so the

prophetic is an exercise in power sharing.Therefore we can say that every timeGod talks we must become more mature,more Christ-like, and more able to rule inthe midst of darkness while chaos,turbulence and crisis is occurring allaround us.

2. The use of power must always be for the purpose of human development.Political power must never be used for the sake of perpetuating the power

structure itself. The prophetic word given by Micah and quoted in Matthew 2:6indicates that out of Bethlehem would come a ruler (hegemon) who will

shepherd (poimen) My people. The Greek word hegemon is where we get theEnglish word hegemony, which meansleadership or predominant influence. Inthe Greek it is defined as a leader of anykind, a guide, ruler, prefect, president,chief, general or commander.

This verse is in total contrast to theRoman and Herodic political leadershipwhich was so abusive in their use of

power. Rome colonized and imposedimperial policy upon far flung subjectsand extracted tribute to build up their imperial center. Herod was murderousand so acutely aware of any threat to his

power that he ruthlessly committed massgenocide. But the Ruler of the wholeearth is a shepherd, which is the Greek word poimen, which means to tend to asheep, or to nurture and feed the flock.

In other words the role of leaders is tocare for the people and to lead them intocorrectness, so the use of power mustalways be for the purpose of humandevelopment. Jesus is the lamb who sitson the throne an expression of ultimate

power (the throne) couched in perfectgentleness and care (the lamb). Christs

birth into the earth is a radical re-definition of political leadership, and atacit denunciation of oppressive forms of rule which have subjugated man downthrough the ages. The earth longs for thetime when correct rule is restored by theKing of all kings!!
