direCtory of serviCes

the Directory of services offers advertisers an additional, inexpensive way to reach the leaders of the nonprofit world. Basic listings in the Directory of services include your company’s name in boldface caps, street address, city, state, Zip code, and phone and fax numbers. additional lines of information, including Web and e-mail addresses, can be added at an additional cost. the Directory is also available on The Chronicle’s Web site at philanthropy.com/dos. all listings with Web and e-mail addresses have hypertext links.

rates for a basic listing are $865 for 1 year (18 consecutive issues) and $590 for 6 months (9 consecutive issues). One-, two-, and three-inch boxed ads are also available.

general rate poliCy

Contracts for multiple insertions of advertising will earn substantial discounts, as indicated in the rate tables. Discounts are determined by the number of insertions contracted for and used in any 12-month period. if fewer than the contracted number of insertions are used, payment of the higher rate for the number actually used (“short rate”) will be due at the end of the contract period. if enough additional insertions are used to qualify for a discount, a cumulative refund (“rebate”) will be applied to the cost of the advertisement that meets the requirement.

Frequency discounts may be protected by signing a one-year contract. a contract year, 18 consecutive issues, begins with the date of the first insertion.

to earn a discount for a schedule that includes advertisements of different sizes, the smallest ad may not be less than half the size of the largest ad.

a double-page spread ( junior or tabloid pages) counts as two insertions.

internet advertising

The Chronicle’s Web site, philanthropy.com, is the most comprehensive online source of news and information about the nonprofit world. the site offers the complete contents of the new issue and an archive of articles from 1997 and grant listings from 1995—all fully searchable. More than 100,000 unique viewers visit The Chronicle’s Web site every month. Banner advertising is available throughout the site. advertising is also available in The Chronicle’s e-mail newsletters. please contact your sales representative for more information on how banner and e-mail advertising can enhance your marketing message.

speCial supplements

The Chronicle publishes four supplemental guides to products and services:

March 11 technology guide

april 8 Fund-raising services guide

October 7 guide to Managing nonprofits

advertisements in the guides also appear on The Chronicle’s Web site, complete with hypertext and e-mail links. advertisers can collect leads through popular information-request forms published both in print and online.
