Faith to Move Mountains Campaign for the Diocese of Trenton
BUSINESS ADMINISTRATORS CORNER 9/6/2015
The Faith to Move Mountains campaign at the Church of Epiphany is wrapping up! So far, almost $370,000 has been pledged from over 110 families. We have currently raised 83% of our goal and in the coming weeks, we will offer everyone a final opportunity to participate. If all parishioners participate, we can certainly reach our goal of $445,000. The overwhelming support we have received from parishioners has been tremendous! In addition, 30% of the campaign funds that we raise toward our parish goal will be directed back to the Church of Epiphany for our own local needs! Faith to Move Mountains is a $75 million Diocesan-wide endowment campaign that will secure the resources needed to enable our Church to flourish for generations to come. Unlike the Annual Catholic Appeal, which addresses the day-to-day operating expenses of the Diocese, this campaign will establish endowments to respond to critical long-term needs and serve as a permanent and self-sustaining source of financial stability for the Diocese. Once established, the funds will continue to grow through the reinvestment of interest and earnings, as well as additional gifts. Through this, the endowments will provide support for the following needs in perpetuity: Our Parishes: $30 million Ordained Ministry: $20 million Catholic Schools: $15 million Social Services: $5 million Catechesis and Evangelization: $5 million
The 30% coming back to the Church of Epiphany will go toward helping the following items: Enrich Faith Formation Programs for Youths and
Adults We will bolster our youth and adult faith formation programs with
additional financial and material resources. This will help provide updated materials, underwrite registration costs, provide additional support for catechists’ retreats, and enhance our new curriculum.
Resurfacing the Parking Lot The church’s parking lot is the main access point for church services and ministries. The parking lot’s current condition serves as a barrier for the elderly and disabled. This hazard must be addressed for our parishioners to continue accessing Epiphany’s gatherings in a safe manner. This fund will provide seed money to commence this initiative and the church will structure its future budget accordingly to cover additional expenses.
Capital Improvement Fund This endowment fund will provide necessary funds for current and future capital improvements. Immediate capital priorities include the church’s cracked external siding and internal damages.
We are a tax-exempt non-profit Organization and gratefully accept donations from last will and testament’s and/or stock to assist in carrying out our mission. For more information, please contact Michele at Wells Fargo Advisors. (800-533-6163)
May God Bless you for your generosity!

RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY Why is abortion unacceptable at any phase in the development of an embryo?
"God-given human life is God's own property; it is sacred from the first moment of its existence and not under the control of any human being. 'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you' (Jer 1:5). God alone is Lord over life and death. Not even "my" life belongs to me. Every child, from the moment of conception on, has a right to life. From his earliest beginnings an unborn human being is a separate person, and no one can infringe upon his rights, not the State, not the doctor, and not even the mother." The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is a process where you can experience the Catholic faith community. It is an opportunity for questions to be answered and for learning about the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church. Are you: A person who has not been baptized and would like
to learn more about the Catholic faith, and become a Catholic
A Baptized Christian of another denomination who would like to learn about and join the Catholic tradition?
A baptized Roman Catholic who has not received Eucharist or Confirmation and would like to become a full participant in the life of the Church?
The Christian Initiation process offers an environment of support and guidance as you discover God is working in your life. Through RCIA, the Epiphany parish community can help you fulfill this faith journey. If you think the RCIA program is for you, and you would like registration information, please call Michele in the Religious Ed office 732-785-0872. Classes begin in October.

Gospel: Mark 7:31-37 Some people brought a deaf man who could not speak to Jesus and begged him to lay his hand on the man. Jesus opened the man’s ears and cured his speech impediment. He ordered the people not to tell anyone, but they were too amazed to keep this to themselves. He took him off by himself away from the crowd. He put his finger into the man’s ears, and spitting, touched his tongue, then he looked up to heaven and groaned and said to him ‘Ephphatha’ that is ‘Be opened.’ And immediately the man’s ears were opened, his speech impediment was removed, and he spoke plainly…They were exceedingly astonished and they said ‘He has done all things well.’” We can make a list of the miracles of Jesus. Some were cures from a distance, some taking one by the hand, some by a spoken word. Today we find touch, saliva, a groan and a word. We do not learn how the man reacted, but the people, ordered told to remain quiet, told the story. Each one of us, at our baptism, found the minister touching our ears and tongue and told; As Jesus made the deaf to hear and
dumb to speak, so may He open your ears to hear His word and your mouth to proclaim His praise.’ We were told that we, in the words of Pope Francis, are to be ‘Missionary Disciples.’ We have encountered Christ, turned to Him, accepted His teaching, and now are sent to live out that baptismal mandate. Though the man who was cured was anonymous, we are to tell others that He has done all things well.
Around the Diocese
Vocation Discernment Group Meeting A Vocation Discernment Group meeting is a wonderful opportunity to share how God is calling us to serve in His church. In these sessions we talk about the issues that affect our vocation: How does God call us? How can I know where God wants me to serve Him? What is the life of priestly ministry? What are the qualities that make a holy priest? What is the formation process like? Through prayer, experience, and a strong dedication to one’s spiritual life, discernment emerges as a gift from God, leading us in the right direction.
You are invited to share you journey with us in these discernment group meetings. Our next meeting will be held on September 20, 2015, at St. Pio of Pietrelcina, 103 Washington Ave., Lavallette, NJ from 4:00PM to 6:00PM, hosted by pastor, Rev. Msgr. Leonard Troiano. The time will include prayer, sharing discernment stories, Q & A and a light meal. The meetings are a wonderful experience as you discover and respond to His invitation and serve the Church in His priesthood. Please register with Diocese of Trenton Vocation Office at [email protected] or by calling 609-406-7449.
