We need such an image to correct our overly safe and overly sweet image of the Spirit. One preacher friend asked, "How many times can you sing 'There's a Sweet, Sweet Spirit in This Place' without your blood sugar reaching diabetic levels?" When the Spirit comes in the Bible, it never seems to be sweet or safe. God's Spirit called the prophets to speak to Israel in words that were bold and sometimes dangerous. Ezekiel saw a vision of God's Spirit blowing through a valley of dry bones and bringing them to life. John the Baptist, dressed in camel's hair and eating wild locusts, proclaimed, "I baptize you with water, but he who comes after me will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire." Paul gave this advice to young Timothy, "For this reason I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of my hands; for God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but rather, a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline." (2 Timothy 1:6-7) Neither safe nor tame, the Spirit inspired Paul to proclaim, "There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male or female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:28). It was this wild Goose that Jesus referred to when he preached his first sermon and quoted Isaiah, saying, "For the Spirit of the Lord is upon me for he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor, to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of God's favor." The Wild Goose
Celtic Christians chose, not the dove, but the wild goose as a symbol representing the Holy Spirit. It sounds strange to us, but it has a long tradition in Ireland.
While the Roman Church imagined the Holy Spirit in the form of a peaceful, graceful dove, the Ancient Celts understood the Holy Spirit to be like a wild goose. When you think of the Spirit descending like a heavenly dove on you, you hear harps and strings softly playing and get a peaceful feeling. The image of the Holy Spirit as dove has become so familiar and domesticated an image that we pay it little attention.

¡Caminado con Jesús!
Pensando en voz alta…….
Antes de ser arrestado, pero ya sabiendo lo que iba a suceder, Jesús le hablo a sus discípulos y les prometió que el Padre les enviaría el paráclito, el Espíritu Santo, que permanecería con ellos por siempre.
Cuando los discípulos recibieron el Espíritu Santo pudieron proclamar la palabra de Dios de una manera que todos podían entender sin importar cultura, país natal o idioma.
“Solemnidad de Pentecostés”
Jesús les encargo a sus discípulos ir a todas las naciones y bautizar, proclamar el Evangelio y hacer discípulos. Pero les dijo que esperaran en Jerusalén, pues allí recibirían el poder de lo alto.
En la primera lectura de hoy los discípulos reciben ese poder e inmediatamente pueden hablar en diferentes lenguas. Todos los que estaban en la ciudad podían entenderlos.
Lucas, el autor del libro de los Hechos, menciona 16 ciudades, regiones y culturas para dar una idea de que todas las naciones de la tierra estaban representadas.
Ahora con el Espíritu Santo, los discípulos podían comunicarse con las personas de todas las naciones de la tierra estaban representadas.

Our grant application to the Schulze Family Foundation has been accepted! We have from now until May 31, 2020 to raise $25,000, and the Schulze Family Founda-
tion will match our efforts for a total of $50,000! With this money, we will be able to do great things for our school and all students who enter today and in the future. Our next grant meeting is this Monday, June 10th, at 7:00 pm in the school cafeteria. All are welcome!

There they will continue to work with Father Corpora and his team. St. Mary’s School will have an Open House for Latino Parents on June 30 in the school gym following the 11:00 am Spanish Mass. Come to hear what other parents have to say about St. Mary’s School! Enter the school using the cafeteria door in the alley next to the church for easy access to the gym. We present Felipe González, who has been in charge of the Altar Servers for the Hispanic Community at St. Mary’s Church for many years. Now he is willing to help all the Altar Servers in our parish. Those who already have been Altar Serv-
ers, should please contact Felipe at (507) 360-1778 so he can begin including them in the schedule, and so they can attend summer training to learn addi-tional things. We are also looking for new Altar Servers, and starting this summer, we will have training for them on Saturdays. More information will be given in future bulletins.

• Todos estamos invitados a la recaudación de fondos con nuestra rifa anual en el festi-val de verano el 9 de Junio. Los boletos ya están a la venta, los podemos adquirir a la sali-da del templo parroquial, por un costo de 5.00 dólares. • La misa del festival será a las 10:00 a.m. y después a disfrutar de todas las delicias en los diferentes platillos y juegos para los niños.
