STATEMENT OF REASONS

THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH (TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS) (AMENDMENT ORDER NO. 2019.2137231 SALCOMBE ROAD) ORDER 2020

The Plymouth City Council as traffic authority have made the Orders referred to above: - The reasoning for these changes is:

Assistant Director for Street Services, Department for Place, (Plymouth Transport & Highways), Plymouth City Council, Ballard House, West Hoe Road, Plymouth, PL1 3BJ

We have received a number of complaints from residents of Salcombe Road about their inability to park. When Zone DD was originally introduced the residents of Salcombe Road were not in favour of parking controls. This resulted in Salcombe Road sitting just outside the boundary of Zone DD. Whilst residents of Salcombe Road may apply for a resident parking permit to park within Zone DD, there are no designated permit parking bays on Salcombe Road itself. This has led to Salcombe Road suffering from a high parking pressure due to displacement parking caused by commuters and motorists who will move their vehicles to avoid parking controls on nearby roads. In order to ensure the parking needs of Salcombe Road. As Salcombe Road is being incorporated into the existing Zone DD, the operational hours will be the same, and are currently Monday – Saturday 2pm to 7pm.
