…And We’re Off!
Our new church year officially begins August 1 for those serving in teaching and committee ministries. Here is the skinny on what starts when.
Sunday School promotion will occur on Sunday, August 5, with new Sunday School teachers assuming their duties then. Wednesday night activities promotion occurs on Wednesday, August 8, with new teachers assuming their duties then. Sunday Night activities begin for the new year on Sunday, August 12. All students and all adult Sunday School members and all teachers and leaders for all age groups in Sunday School will meet in the Worship Center as we begin our annual Sunday School training “Leaning Into The Future.” On August 1, our Church Committees are also off to a new year of worshipping God and serving others through their committee’s ministry. Ministry Planning Packets have been mailed to all Committee Chairpersons. Your committee’s chairperson or staff liaison will be contacting you soon to arrange an annual ministry planning meeting. At that meeting committees will be making their Budget Requests and Ministry Goals for the upcoming year. Remember, we ask that all Budget Requests and Ministry Goals be returned to the church office by Sunday, September 16, so that the Stewardship Committee can begin their work of compiling our 2013 Budget. Thanks are in order for all of you who have so graciously responded to God’s call to you to serve in the various ministry opportunities here at the church. Thanks are also in order for the Nominating Committee and the Committee on Committees for their work in “Matching the Called with Their Calling” this year. Please say a special word of thanks to this past year’s committees for their work.

Our theme this year will be The Greatest Rescue Ever. Rescuers put their lives on the line to save people in distress. First Responders provide a picture of Savior and Redeemer. Our Rescuer Jesus never leaves us - but people who don't know Jesus are in trouble. Our children will be learning how they can become a part of The Greatest Rescue Ever!

You will find several new videos in our Media Center/Library. Suing the Devil is a movie about a washed-up salesman turned night law student who decides to sue Satan for $8,000,000,000,000! On the last day before he files a default judgment, Satan appears to defend himself. This is an epic spiritual battle in the court-room. It is a faith-based legal thriller that will leave you cheering and breathless! Everything In Between is a video that follows Tim Tebow as he trains for the NFL. Dark Horse is the story of Dana, her family, and a horse. With her father suffering from dementia, she returns to her childhood home on Orcas Island to help out. Can she save the farm, tame her mother's Fresian horse, and reconcile her warring brothers? You will also find CD sets to listen to in your car as you travel or at home. The Library/Media Committee is making an effort to get the types of media that you enjoy and ask for. Please check things out! We are happy to receive sugges-tions.
