The propertyThe Clockhouse is a delightful and unique home with an interesting history. It was originally part of a gym that was built in 1930 for Oakley Court and was converted into two houses in 2002, with a number of the original features still visible.

You reach the entrance of the property via a pretty front garden with views over the neighbouring orchard. The front hall has wooden floors and an attractive staircase leading to the 1st floor. From the hall there is access to a cloakroom with WC, a utility room and also to a spacious kitchen/breakfast room with fully fitted units, a range cooker with cooker hood and an island unit with granite worktop. The kitchen is extremely light and airy with French windows out to the rear garden from the dining area and also a gas fired stove. Leading from the kitchen via double glass doors is a wonderful sitting room with double height ceilings and two sets of French windows onto the south west facing terrace/decking area, a perfect place for al fresco entertaining. The sitting room has a feature fireplace with a marble surround and wood burning stove, attractive wooden flooring and double doors into the large dining room, both the rooms are flooded with natural light through large windows.

On the ground floor there is a small hallway from the main hall leading into an office, that could easily double up as a fourth bedroom/annex with its own shower room and built in wardrobes.

The first floor is accessed via an attractive staircase to a landing area with a feature window overlooking the sitting room. The principal bedroom has fitted wardrobes and en suite bathroom/shower, the second double bedroom also has fitted wardrobes and an en suite shower room, the original steel beams of the gym are visible in both bedrooms and are a delightful feature of the first floor.

The third bedroom can be found on the second floor of the house with Velux windows opening out to views across the Oxfordshire countryside, it has built in wardrobes and a separate shower room with WC.

The town centre offers a range of shops including a Waitrose supermarket and several independent traders. A weekly farmers market dating back to the 12th century is hosted in the town square. There is a fantastic selection of restaurants and cafes, while the Corn Exchange is a thriving centre for theatre, cinema, arts and entertainment. Wallingford has a rich history, William the Conqueror built Wallingford Castle shortly after 1066, the castle ruins are available to visit. In more recent times, the town has featured in popular murder mystery fiction. Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple stories were inspired by Wallingford’s landmarks and residents.

To the front of the property is a driveway with a double garage, with boarded out storage above, and a car port. The path to the front door has a mixture of grass, gravel and flower beds on either side, bordered by mature hedging and trees, and overlooking an orchard to the side of the property.

To the rear, the garden is laid to lawn with flowers beds, hedging, wooden fencing and views out across a paddock and beyond. The paved terrace across the back of the house with a decking area is an ideal place to sit out in the evenings. On one side of the garden is a small wooden workshop with a path leading to the front gate, storage shed and oil tank. To the other side of the house is an area for storing logs and small storage unit.
