We focused our presentation on highlighting the many ways that we work to engage students academically, behaviorally, and socially/emotionally. In addition, the PTO and the School Council reviewed our successes and previewed the upcoming events for the remainder of the year. After seeing the presentation, several parents commented that they are “so proud to be part of the Cole School community.” Close to twenty parents participated in the School Council Focus Group this morning. The purpose of the Focus Group was to elicit feedback from parents and to gather information to inform the development of the school improvement plan. One hundred parents were randomly selected to participate in this Focus Group. There will be another Focus Group held in March as well. Mid-year is a great time to stop and reflect on our Mission Statement . The mission of the Grace Farrar Cole School is to promote curiosity, creativity, and opportunities in learning as we strive for excellence. We will promote appreciation of individual learning styles, skills, and talents to maximize learning and growth. We will treat all people with dignity, kindness, and respect. We will foster intellectual curiosity and risk taking through creative problem solving. All Grade 4 & 5 students learned about Internet Safety with Detective Jay McDevitt today. We greatly appreciate Det. McDevitt’s willingness to talk with our older students about internet safety especially with the increase in the number of students that have internet access readily available to them throughout the day. Report Cards are being sent home today. Parents of students in grades 1-5 will recall that the report cards were revised this year with them implementation of new standards. Kindergarten students will be receiving report cards this quarter. If you would like more information on the revised report cards, please see the in-depth explanation at the following link: https://docs.google.com/a/norwellschools.org/document/d/1chkWE-1sGSMLZmBTpyqHfQ43O4lIfoE4q21tev pI27g/edit
