MARK YOUR CALENDAR Oct 10 Columbus Day Holiday. NO SCHOOL Oct 14 Clipper Fun Night, 2nd & 3rd grade at Vinal, 6:30 - 8:30 pm Oct 25 PTO Meeting, 7:30 pm Oct 26 Early Release; Dismissal at 12:20 pm. No Afternoon Kindergarten. THIS WEEK AT COLE October means pumpkins and harvest time at Cole. This week all of our kindergartners went on field trips; Mrs. Mackey’s classes went to Ward Berry Farm on Wednesday and Mrs. Murphy’s class visited the Whittaker’s Farm on Friday. All the children had a wonderful time learning about farms and enjoyed picking pumpkins. Celebrating autumn continues in our front lobby where Mr. Menice has decorated the walls with 1st grade’s painted autumn leaves. We held our first Monday’s Entertainment this week. Held on the first Monday of the month during all three recess periods, Monday’s Entertainment is an opportunity for children to perform on stage for their classmates. Sometimes it may be singing, dancing or telling jokes. It is always a fun time for all involved. BAND ALL-STARS Congratulations to Sarah DeNeill on achieving her Silver Band All Star. Sarah had to perform select songs on the clarinet from 2/3 of her book in order to achieve this goal. PLEASE BRING SPOONS FOR BIRTHDAY ITALIAN ICES When sending in Italian Ices for your child’s birthday, please be sure to send in plastic spoon, as well. Thank you.

  • WALKING/RIDING BIKES TO SCHOOLIf you live within walking distance to school and wish to give your child permission to walk and/or ride a bike to school, please send in written permission . Children who live in nearby neighborhoods are welcomed to ride or walk each day. We ask that no child arrives at the school prior to 8:30 am.

    Who’s New at Cole?Have you met Christina Rodrigues? Christina is one of our new Special Education Teachers. She has been in the Norwell Schools for 4 years and this is her first year full-time . Christina has 2 sons and a daughter and when she is not teaching you can find her watching her kids on athletic fields across the south shore. Welcome to Cole, Mrs. Rodrigues!

    THANK YOU MR. HERMAN’S INDUSTRIAL ARTS CLASS The Cole School wishes to thank Mr.Herman and all the students in his Tech Ed and Building Instruction Class for repairing the bridge in the Hatch Pond Outdoor Classroom. Over the summer vandals destroyed the bridge. Mr. Herman’s class designed a new bridge and he and some of his students came to Cole this week and built the new bridge. Thank you!

    Library Card Sign Up DayDoes each person in your family have their own library card? Make it an extra fun Saturday, Oct 15th from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM when children can have their picture taken with a life-size 'Wild Thing' character from Maurice Sendak's classic children's story Where the Wild Things Are. Children may decorate a small pumpkin ~ please bring your own pumpkin, we'll supply the decorations ~ and have their face painted in the Children's Room with members of the Youth Library Council. Join in the Fall fun!

    Norwell Women’s Club will host its annual Halloween Party and Parade from 10 a.m. noon, on Saturday, Oct. 29th, at Norwell Middle School. There will be games, crafts, prizes, snacks and a costume parade. Admission price is $3 per child.

  • Norwell Travel Basketball 5th Grade Boys Basketball tryouts will be held on: Monday, October 3rd from 6:00 - 7:30 at Norwell High School Monday, October 10th from 3:30 - 5:00 at Norwell Middle School.     CLIPPER FUN NIGHT: 2ND & 3RD GRADE The Norwell High School Girls’ Soccer Teams invite all 2nd & 3rd graders to Clipper Fun Night. Come join them for games, crafts and sports on Friday, Oct. 14th from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. The cost is $10 per student.

    For all new and returning Norwell Youth Lacrosse players: Please remember to register for the Spring 2012 season by Friday,

    November 18th. This is a reminder for all players in grades K-8 in both the girls’ and boys’ youth programs that a $25 late fee will be accessed to all players who sign up after this deadline as spots are limited for each grade level.
