Pupil Guide To
Traditional Games
The Comenius Project:
The Comenius Project is a project
which aims to promote traditional
and non-electronic games such as
‘snakes and ladders’ or ‘dominoes’
etc. In order to decrease the use of
modern games which may cause
harm towards the children of this
era.
The idea of promoting traditional
games is very useful as it helps to
build mental and concentration skills
as well as hand eye-coordination.
These skills are very useful,
particularly towards pupils, as it can
enable them to perform better in
there studies.
Finally, an introduction to traditional
games as a replacement for modern
games would bring unity and
togetherness between people, which
would contribute towards improving
their social and communicational
skills, and as a result transforming
them into better citizens.
The Benefits:
Traditional games have many benefits
however not many people know about them.
Compared to the more modern game such as
video games which contain violent and quite
often inappropriate content, traditional games
do not expose you to things that may cause
harm in any way. Traditional games are more
communicational and harder, causing you to
work your brain harder, unlike computers and
consoles which are quite basic and
occasionally do not increase your knowledge.
Nowadays people are usually lying on a couch
staring at a screen, not burning off all the fat
they gain from the snacks they are always eat-
ing. However when playing you are always
busy thinking, working out new strategies or
new methods of winning/succeeding, you
won’t have time to eat.
Computer and video games usually contain
inappropriate and violent content. Many other
dangers and hazards of computer and video
games are things such as: Hacking, Viruses,
etc. But traditional games can not be hacked,
can’t contain viruses and do not contain
inappropriate and violent content.
Memory Games:
Memory games can help us remember lists, lessons,
etc. This improvement in our memory can cause a
lot of benefits and help us in our day to day lives.
Strategic Games:
Strategic games can help us analyse the situation
and how to work around tough problems, this can
also help us in our day to day lives and can help us
improve our analysing skills.
Mental Games:
These games are games that really test your ability,
every time you play you will come back with an
improvement to your mental strengths. They help
us develop our brains and can help us gain more
“Brain Power.”
Mathematical Games:
These games really help you out by improving your
maths skills, they will bring maths into your life
through entertainment, you won’t be stuck in class
with a confused mind because these games will
help you understand everything you learn in maths
class.
