In the sixth shot it starts with a close up of leaves which you can hear rustling, the music gets slightly more intense quick two quick thuds at the beginning and then this tilts to an establishing shot of a house along with titles placed at the centre and at the bottom of the screen, which show the location and time period that the film is based in. This shot uses low-key lighting. This was a straight-cut. You then hear more diegetic dialogue “Does it ever just say things just to you, that you can only hear?”, to which the other character replies “Yes”. A straight cut is used for the transition to the next shot.

This shot fades from black. This is a two shot of two characters and a low angle shot is used. The lighting also changes in this shot to slightly high key lighting, this shows that the characters who are here may be of significance. We can now see that the older woman is asking the young girl a question and we see the diegetic dialogue of “What does it say?”. A straight cut is used to be the transition to the next shot.

Here we see a two shot of the two characters, the young girl is in focus because she is the character that speaks in that shot and we hear the diegetic dialogue of “it wants to hurt you”. The other character is in shallow focus because she does not speak in this shot. This shot uses high key lighting. A straight cut is used to move onto the next shot. We still hear the diegetic sound of the wind howling in this shot.

In this two shot the characters are still having a conversation however, this shot shows the older woman in focus and the rest of the shot is in shallow focus and it does not break the 180 degree rule. From this shot we can see that the woman is concerned with what the young girl is saying by her facial expression. We hear the diegetic dialogue of the older woman asking “when did it say that?”. This shot still uses high key lighting and a straight cut is used to move to the next shot.

In this close up shot we see that the young girl is in focus and the rest of the shot is in shallow focus, this is because we hear the diegetic dialogue from the young girl when she says “right now” as she is responding to what the older woman said in the previous shot, there is a delay in what she is saying so that this can make the audience feel tense as this is a convention of a horror. This shot then straight-cuts to the next shot. High-key lighting is used in this shot.

Throughout this sequence of shots with the older woman and the younger girl shot-reverse-shot has been used to show the characters reactions to what they are saying. Here, we see the older woman in focus and the rest of the shot in shallow focus. We can see the reaction of the older woman, she looks shocked by what the girl has said to her. High-key lighting is used in this shot and a straight-cut is used as a transition to the next shot.

This shot uses low-key lighting and starts off as a long shot of a tent with a zoetrope, the zoetrope then lights up as the camera zooms towards the zoetrope more as this occurs the zoetrope starts moving and we can hear the diegetic clicking sound of the moving zoetrope. When the zoetrope is more central on the screen, titles appear panning upwards, like credits, to show the director of the movie as this is a major selling point for the target market to watch the film. The shot then flashes to move onto the next shot.

This is where a series of fast shots begins. We see a close up of a man who is looking round a room and he is in the first third of the screen and in the other two thirds you can see lots of crosses which are displayed on the walls, this shows that there is a theme of religion. Lots of light flashes occur within this shot. You can hear the diegetic sound of the moving zoetrope. This shot uses low-key lighting. A flash is used as the transition to the next shot.

You can hear the diegetic sounds of the woman screaming from the previous shot, you can also hear the non-diegetic sound of dramatic music. This shot flashes during the duration of the shot and a larger flash is used as the transition to the next shot.

In this shot we see a long shot. We can see on the left a shadow of a scary looking figure as it is hunched over, having shadows in a shot is as typical convention of a horror. On the right side of the screen, we can see a man who is holding is arm out, you can also see his own shadow appearing behind him. There is a light behind him to create this effect. You can hear the non-diegetic eerie music and the diegetic sound of the zoetrope as it is moving around. Here, you can see the flashes from the zoetrope spinning around. This shot uses low-key lighting and a flash is used to move to the next shot as this reflects the zoetrope’s movement.
